Last night I caught Owen eating the carpet. He had been at it for awhile and there were a bunch of loose strands around him and a visible empty patch in the carpet. Obviously, this isn’t encouraged as it’s probably his most steadfast of bad habits that I can’t get him to break. His punishment for this is being picked up (this is torture for him) and locked in his NIC cage. I know I should have just left him for the rest of the night, but since I was still going to be up for awhile, after a bit I unlocked his cage but ignored him and went back to the TV.
I saw him start to run around a bit and then *plop* – There he was, right on top of me. I gave him some headrubs, which caused him to lay down and settle in right on top of me. As the headrubs continued, the legs were eventually thrown back behind him. And so he stayed for at least half an hour.
When he was done he jumped down, but then was back within 10 minutes for another extended session of headrubs for him and grooming for me. And that repeated once again before it was finally my bed time and I locked him up for good with a fresh batch of hay.
But seriously, why do they make it so impossible to stay mad at them?!!!
