One of our Rabbit Haven volunteers uses her personal bunnies as therapy animals, visiting hospitals, nursing homes and long term care facilities with her bunnies to help cheer up the patients.  Being deathly afraid of hospitals, I have no idea how she can continue to do it, but it is a huge hit with the people she visits.  You can read a bit about her and her bunnies (both shelter rescues through The Haven) here http://www.deltasociety.org/Page.aspx?pid=365

Osprey that’s wonderful. I would love to be able to do that, but Sammy won’t let me hold her. I probably could have with Spockie.

Hospitals are hard because people can be seriously ill there, but nursing homes, rehabs and assisted living spaces would enjoy the visits. As long as allergies aren’t an issue – guess you would need to check with them ahead of time to be sure.

That’s really cool!! I’ve never heard or actually thought about using bunnies for this.
