Ewwwww, gives me the creeps….I think I’d literally have a heart attack if I accidentally stumbled upon ‘Lucky!’ hehe
ROFLMBO!! I read “OMGOMG….” And was like what can be that bad. Then I scrolled down. That’s hilarious! Man I would flip if I saw that snake! “He has been know to attack small cats/dogs.” Then you read “DO NOT attempt to capture him…” That’s scary! Love his name…Lucky. Ain’t so lucky now!! Ok I’ll stop making fun of the poor thing!
Snakes freak me out- and a pet that is that large and that dangerous needs to have safeguards in place that will ensure that it never, ever escapes. If this is not a joke and someone finds that snake- I think the owners should be fines and required to prove that an escape will never happen again for them to get their snake back. And if it happens again- the snake should be taken away.
I think that is reasonable if it was a dangerous dog or a bobcat (kept as a pet)- so why not for snakes?
I am surprised it was posted that they were looking for it- most people don’t take responsibility when snakes get that large and escape because they don’t want them anyway.
I know that accidents happen- and dogs, cats and other pets escape- but they KNOW it is dangerous and that gave the owners even more responsibility to make sure it could never escape. If it is dangerous to small dogs and cats- it could be a danger to kids too.
If I ever have a snake that big come near me I would be going to the hospital lol I am not a snake person in the least
That’s pretty wild…..
I agree Katnip-you wouldn’t be able to post that your bobcat got out or your dog who is ‘known to attack dogs/cats’ soooo…..come on-this person should be more responsible!!!
On the note of what people keep for pets-we were talking today and when I volunteered at the zoo-we had a declawed bobcat that was someones pet and a lemur who was someones pet!!! And the lady I was chatting with was telling me this woman came in the other day and couldn’t walk well for her age (she wasn’t that old) and told her it was because when she was 19 her pet CHIMP attacked her!
….That’s beyond strange-I mean how can you predict that a WILD freaking animal would attack someone? Seriuosly out of the blue (<Sarcasm) ![]()
Poor thing!
Snakes are escape artists, I don’t understand how the owners could let a huge snake like that out of their site. It’s cage/room/whatever would be on lock down if I had one lol
OH MY!!!! I do believe if I found “lucky” in my Garage or basement KNOWING that he could potentially kill my rabbit, cat, or dog “lucky” wouldn’t be so LUCKY anymore…HOW could someone be so irresponsible, owning a pet like that. UGH!
Here in florida they are making people get licenses for pets like that. So many snakes that have gotten big and their owners didn’t want anymore they let loose in the Everglades.
Boa’s have no natural predators here well… except gators.. but then the snakes can eat the gators too
I read somewhere I think our paper that a law is trying to get passed making it illegal to breed and sell those type pets. Boa’s kimono dragons and other types lizards
Also dogs are being trained to track down these dumb snakes in the everglades so they can kill or remove them.
what a stupid thing for a pet anyway. It isn’t fuzzy or cuddly doesn’t do anything but slither stick it’s tongue out and eat. ON 2nd thought the cuddly part is only when they are trying to eat you so yes I guess they are snuggly in an unhealthy sort of way. ![]()
HAHAHAHAHA–bunnytowne your so funny!!! I really think you should have to at the very least pass an inspection or something, how dangerous!!!
I just had a slight gag reflex. I hate snakes soooooo much. I’m freaked out by things without like legs. Snakes and eels creep me out more than anything.
My regular rotation of TV channels includes AnimalPlanet. I watch all those totally depressing AnimalCops shows–which, BunnyTowne, has convinced me that I could NEVER live in Florida! Swamps and escaped illegal lizard-dragon-thingies and alligators that some idiot FEEDS until it decides to cruise into peoples’ yards looking for handouts! Ack!
I’m sure there are very nice people who have pet snakes. I wanted a pet garter snake as a kid (my parents got one and gave it to my brother–I think it was subliminal sexism!). But then I realized they eat fish, and I was out! Poor fishy! But my most recent experience with snake owners is my BF’s kind-of-brother-in-law (you don’t want to know!), who proclaims himself a Satanist, aspires to be a professional gambler, and gives one room to his snakes, while the kids all crowd into another room. Not really keen on that segment of the snake-owner population…! You think it’s a stereotype…until you see it in the flesh!
Ugh.
There is this 3-4 ft long garter snake I keep running into. Right at my feet too. I notice it stop. It doesn’t move so I uh kind of uh go around it.
Killed a 3 inch baby water moccosan too. B4 it gets any bigger. There are quite a few black racer snakes running around here too. They keep out of our way and are very fast.
When I was a young teen I would go around angering snakes to get pics of them coiled up ahhaa. OH the things we do as kids.
Yeah, DEFINITELY not moving to Florida any time soon! ![]()
I used to have a ball python and it ate mice and rats. I left it with the ex when I moved. There was a time when I actually didn’t have a problem feeding snakes, my frame of mind was “circle of life” and blah blah blah. But now? If that big snake was thinkin about gobbling up one of my bunnies it would have to get past me…and that wouldn’tlikely happen.
I think its horribl that the snake got out and those people shouldnt pbe allowed to have snakes. But i dont think snakes are stupid pets, their actually quite interesting and just because we all love rabbits doesnt mean different animals are bad
I think it’s fine that people are fascinated with snakes but I think it’s very heartless to keep a pet snake and feed it rabbits or guinea pigs. Seriously, who could do that to an animal that has the potential to live 15 years of happiness as a pet? I mean, actually stick a little animal in there. It’s not the snakes fault that’s what they eat but at least in the wild, the prey has a chance of escape. To me, it’s extreme cruelty to animals to stick an animal in an aquarium with no chance of escape with a creature like that.
Yes i agree fully but a snake has to eat just like our pets do. I would never feed a snake live prey but they still need to be fed, so already frozen animals can be used but in the end a rat, mouse, rabbit etc. has to be used. There isn’t any other way for a snake to eat, and just because some disagree doesn make it wrong.
Frozen animals had to be killed somehow…feeding frozen isn’t more humane, it’s just easier on the person who has to feed the snake. My snake ate live. I felt bad every time I fed him…but he had to eat and feeder mice/rats are bred for a reason.
EEEEEK. The part that scares me the most is where they say “DO NOT attempt to catch him on your own.” Yikes.

I agree that there’s nothing wrong with feeding snakes meat, as they DO need it, but if I had to be eaten by a snake, I think I’d prefer being killed somewhere else, frozen, and then be fed to it. I can’t think of a more horrible way to go than being eaten alive.
They aren’t alive when they are eaten. I can only comment on my python…he killed them pretty quick. I never saw it take longer than 20-30 seconds. He wouldn’t release them for 2-3 minutes but they were definitely “gone” way faster than that. I’d also say that 90% of the time they never knew what hit them.
