We got up yesterday morning, everything is fine… doing our thing, reading the newspaper, drinking coffee, just a lazy Sunday morning.

Mike starts hollering about something, there is a wasp in the kitchen sink.  He is so afraid of bugs.  I end up having to “exterminate” anything that gets in the house.  I get rid of this (really BIG) wasp.  The day goes on a little bit.  We hear buzzing, there is a wasp in the living room flying around.  Mike makes a beeline for the bedroom and is hiding out in there with Michael.  He calls my dad, begs him to come over and “rescue us”.  I really wish I were exaggerating about the level of “scaredy-cat-ness” that was going on.  I’m not…   My dad says he’s on his way.  I had to “man up”, get a broom and take care of the wasp in the living room.  My parents get here and they have bug sprays, bug bombs, everything in hand.  Of course I AM now freaking out… “WAIT!  THE BUNNIES!!!”  We walk around the house outside and we see wasps all over by the eaves of the roof, big ones, just flying all over the place, dive-bombing us!

So we go back in (mind you, the air is not on yet and it’s about 80 degrees in the house with all of us running around) and we proceed to get into arguments for the next hour about the best way to go about all of this.  My only concern is BUNNIES!  Mike’s only concern is WASPS!  My dad reassures us that it’s a two hour fogger… so we can set it off, come back in a couple hours and open the windows, turn on the air, and then go back to their house while it clears out.  We end up having more arguments about how to get the bunnies out of there.  I am disassembling everything… packing up all their toys, boxes, litterboxes, everything.  Mike says JUST to bring the bunnies.  “AND PUT THEM WHERE FOR 6 HOURS?!  We can’t leave them in their carrier all day!”  Then I’m bagging up willow toys… he says to leave them… I have to explain to him that willow = food stuff for bunnies.  If it gets the fogger stuff all over them, they won’t be able to have them… b/c they EAT willow.  This goes on and on…  It is frustrating being the ONLY rabbit savvy person among family.  They all think I’m nuts and overthinking things, I am just recognizing the dangers.

We finally get everything together (the bunny room is completely emptied and loaded into the car (rug, toys, everything that the bunnies touch!) and right before we leave there’s another wasp in the house!  We get out of there and get to my parent’s (only 5 minutes away).

THEN, my parents don’t want the bunnies in the house… even in an xpen.

Outside, they are powerwashing the driveway and running the air compressor (LOUD!!!)  Plus, the dogs are running around the backyard.  Fine, I will set them up in the front yard and sit out there with them.  Mike says, You’re going to sit in the front yard with them all day?  “I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE!  I CAN’T LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED!!!!!”  I have to run down the list of outdoor dangers to everyone.  We finally convince my parents to let us set them up in the bathroom, in the xpen.  I get them set up there and they were unhappy, but there was nothing I could do about it…   They didn’t poop at all while there, but they peed in the litterbox.  When we got them home later that night they loaded up their litterboxes within 5 minutes of being home.

So that was my Sunday.  It was not fun, but so far I think everything has worked out okay.  Buns are lively… I am exhausted.  It was not the day I was expecting when I woke up.

          Oh man…. what a nightmare!

I’m so glad that you got everything taken care of. It’s sort of amazing how bunnies can hold poops in for that long and then they aaaaaaaaaaaaall come out!

OH Wasp!!! yikes ouch. what a day.  Poor Bunnies.  They were probably wondering what all that yelling was about.

Sounds like a good comedy sitcom.

Oh my gosh! What a bad day!! My parents don’t like their grandbuns messing their house up either

Dave will smack me for this -but he’s sooo the same! Any bug really-wasps, bees (Even though I told him they will not sting unless provoked…), moths, spiders LOL In Cuba I had to get the cockroach out (it had come in while the patio door was open) while he hid in the bathroom. When we were houseboating I had to chase wasps around with the electric swatter thing while he hid. It’s not like he’s frightened really-well except of stings by wasps-but really really grossed out Too funny!

Oh what a day! Not how you wanted to spend a nice sunny day huh?! There was a wasp in my room two or three months ago and I flipped out. Im not as bad as Mike but I still hate having to get near one. Anyways I was yelling for someone to come kill this thing while I threw a nic barrier in the bathroom and quickly moved Hammer and Rose in there. They were safely locked in the bathroom before anyone even came upstairs with a fly swatter, and looked at me like I was crazy for moving the buns out of there. People just dont get that we love our buns, thats crazy dont letting them inside first, it was hot yesterday!

It wasn’t even the heat on Sunday that annoyed me… it was the noise and the dogs running around outside. It was hot in the house too, but I just wanted them somewhere quiet and out of the sun… So far so good, not a wasp in site, so we may be in the clear… ;o)
