Oh crap! Time is of the essence here. Maybe a polite email to enquire if they keep them together or just put them like that for the photo?
It’d be for their benefit to get a “heads up” if they’re wanting a sale.

I’m enquiring about your rabbits you listed on craigslist. I am a little concerned about them together in the same cage. Do you keep them together like this always or were they put together just for the photo?

I do not mean to berated you, I am just concerned as if the male is 12 wks old, he is coming into sexual maturity and will bother the female. She also can become impregnanted from 12 wks of age and this can only take seconds!

Please, if you don’t keep them separated, you will very quickly have more bunnies on your hands! They look very sweet together and seem to be friends. But once those hormones kick in…things change!

They are very beautiful. I hope you do not take offense to my email and I wish you luck in finding them a new home.

Great email Kate! The key with these kinds of things is to educate without offending and you did awesome! I hope they respond and think about what you wrote!

Ta, reading over it, I appeared a total suck up – but those rabbits did genuinely look sweet!  I tried to aim it to an unsuspecting bunny owner - however, I think it’s a pet store ad, so hopefully it was just a photo op and they’re cluey enough to separate them at the right age.

The thing that gets me is $100 for the cage + extras, $25 a piece for the rabbits – as if you could buy the cage seperate.

  I know, right?!  I’m going to email them that I want the cage and supplies but not the bunnies!  Then they will really be “S.O.L.” with two buns to house and NO CAGE!  But seriously, I can see this entire thing ending badly!  I hate ads like that where they charge so much for the cage and supplies and it’s like the buns are an afterthought.  The concern should be the poor bunnies and not the cage/supplies.

(And does anyone else think that the GIGANTIC, long-eared, black bunny is NOT A DWARF?!)
