My buns get run of the bunny room, the hallway, and the living room. They love to race up and down the hall, zooming around the coffee table and doing binkies. I think an exercise pen, while better than nothing, does not give enough open running space. Is there anyway you can open the xpen and circle it around the electronics (protecting cords and everything) and leave the rest of the room open for her? Or even if you can just block half the room?

This is something we’ve done when we had stuff in the living room we did not want disturbed, or if my hubby wanted some uninterrupted tv time… It left a large area of the living room open (plus they had the hallway and their room to run back and forth).  When we were done with it, we folded it up like an accordian and stowed it away.

My rabbit is kept in my room and the hallway next to my room, and he has free reign of those two areas 90% of the time. I can’t let him into the rest of the house unsupervised because it’s not bunny proofed, so I usually give him an hour or two of supervised time in the rest of the house every day.

An exercise pen is not big enough to give your rabbit its daily exercise. My advice would be to let your rabbit come out of your bedroom(in which, I hope you are already giving your rabbit several hours of out-of-cage exercise everyday) for at least an hour a day, and supervise him so that he doesn’t chew any electrical chords. That, or bunny proof your den

Oreo has full run of our kitchen, which is pretty large, for about 5 hours a day total. He also has a large cage (dog kennel big enough for a great dane), I would see about bunny proofing your den if possible. =)

While more space is always better, I think the fact that your bun is able to run around and do binkies is a good sign because it means she has enough space to get some good exercise, and of course that she is happy. While you will probably want to try to eventually expand her space as you can, it sounds like she is well cared for an in a happy home which is great for her I’ve moved a lot over the past 3-4 years so my bunnies have had varying amounts of space, from expanded exercise pens, to free range of rooms, and they always seemed quite happy and healthy. A good trick is to expand the amount of room an exercise pen provides by expanding it out from the wall so that the wall actually becomes one side of the pen, and then the ex-pen can actually contain even more space.

I let my bunny out whenver I can. If I forget a day, I make it up the next day. He has roam of the large livingroom, the hallway, and sometimes our den. I beleive you should add a little more to it. Just so your bunnies can get as much space as possible

As my bunnies aged, by the time they were five, they were able to free roam because they were less destructive. When they were younger, I did have to limit their time out – they had large pens, but then they would get exercise time throughout the house while supervised. (usually at least five hours).

But you said your bunny can exercise in your bedroom, hallway and partial den? If she is able to run freely back and forth then that is good exercise unless you live in a box.

But if you want to allow her more room in the den, it shouldn’t be too hard to bunny proof, and that way you could enjoy each other even more. I even had our xbox controllers bunny proofed (but now they are wireless so I don’t have to worry anymore).

You can use the xpen to block off smaller areas that allow her more room instead of using the pen to confine her.
