I can’t believe I didn’t post about this before! But during this week while I was giving Mimzy his medicine, he actually turned to my bare arm and gave me a loving groom for the first time in the two years I’ve had him.

I was so delerious with happiness I must’ve forgotten to brag. lolz

That’s so sweet. It’s great that even tho he’s not happy about meds, he must appreciate what you do for him!

Oh I can only hope he’ll keep it up! ^_^ I can’t tell you how special it makes me feel to know for sure I am approved of!

Today is was all digging at my pants and arm because I wasn’t giving enough head pets. lolz. He’s SO demanding! ^_^

Now if I could just get Fiver to give me a bunny kissy, things would be perfect. But so far, the only things he grooms near me are my plushies.

ahaha how sweet! I always have to stifle giggles (of happiness) and laughter (because it tickles) so India doesnt run away. Why does it always have to be in sensitive ticklish spots?!

Max is our skittish boy, but he’s been headbutting us a lot lately. Not just one time either. He’ll come up to us and headbutt us several times in a row. I love headbutts if that’s the way he wants to interact with us!

Maryann seems to only groom me out of fear of me leaving her somewhere. She feels when I take her to the vet or to the bunny dates that I was looking at replacing her so she would show me love to try and make me keep her – and even that took 4 years.. Since Dono arrived though, no such thing has happened.

However, I did notice something today with Dono. I open up the condo to give Maryann good morning rubs next to the food dish and Dono always takes off to the opposite corner. Well he did again but instead of going into the box house, he turned and lowered his head towards me. I took a chance and gave the guy head pets for about 5 seconds before I felt I should stop else I’d try to pick him up and squeeze him.

lolz…Markus! 5 seconds? These moments of love are so fleeting. The afterglow lasts longer, thank God…lol!
The squeezing *sigh* this is something that my daughter has to curb all the time. She just wants to give Pip these big old hugs and she knows she can’t. We should’ve named all the bunnies, “Charmin.”
How can you tell, btw, that a lowered head means ‘pet me’ and not’ prepare to lose your fingers!’? Fiver always lowers his head, but I have a hard time telling when he is agitated about my proximity to him or when he is genuinely wanting some affection. It really doesn’t look any different to me either way, as in each case he has his ears back on his head.

I wish I could tell you exactly what it is.  If the tail is up, that means non-aggression.  If it’s flat out, it means aggression.  Also, I find that if the eyes are relaxed and not intently focused on you it is for pets too.  One way I think you might be able to tell is if you start to reach towards him and he tracks the movement of your hand with his eyes/head.  It means he’s aquiring a target.  If he just keeps his head down when you reach to pet him, then he wants the pets.  Of course, you don’t want to slowly reach towards him to see what’s up because that starts to tweak them out too.

Also, their body position of whether they’re ready to pounce or if they’re loafing waiting for the pet.  There’s a subtle difference but it varies from bun to bun.  But if he really wants you away from him, he wouldn’t tolerate the head pet.
