I finally got Archie to stop digging…or it just became boring to him.  He must have been mad at me one day and told her she could dig in the litter.    Now she has been doing it all the time!  We usually have to clean the litter every other day.  We were out this morning and came back home….usually when she digs, I’m here and I stop her, but we came home and there was wood pellet dust everywhere, poo flung over by my desk!  It was mess.    I don’t understand why she does this, I know it’s a natural part of being a rabbit but it’s driving me nuts.  Plus we’re going away for about 5 days and I don’t want to leave them here, so I’m thinking of buying another box or so of cubes and making a medium size pen and putting it in my old room at my parents house so they can take care of them and feed them.  My parents are thinking about going on a two day trip (haven’t decided yet), so that will leave my grandma to take care of them.

Oh I almost forgot, I have another problem, she now is trying to dig the linolem   She actually made a hole in part of the floor and I covered it with a blanket…that she likes to poop and pee on.  I wish this was just the adolences stage but she’s 4, so I think she’s passed it…unless she’s making up for old times

I have a crazy-digging bunny also and since he has been bonded to my formerly very harmless mini rex — they are both digging up my carpet! I always have a stack of tiles in my closet ready to cover any spot that they decide to try for digging. Lately, I have used soft wood (pine) boards (just short lengths of it I had left over) and found that my rabbits will dig at that too which seems to satisfy them. Watch out for nail-snagging; if your rabbits dig at anything fabric-like they can really catch a nail and break it above the quick. Keep nails of digger rabbits short. Blankets? Yup, my mini rex thinks they’re another place for peeing and pooping, too!

The only place she digs at is her litter no where else, weird. She likes to bite things like the linolem and cardboard (she doesn’t get that you can start chewing from the edge and tries to go for the middle haha!). She’ll even try to take a quick bite out of our wood furniture…at her own risk that is haha! I hear her and I run over there and scoot her over and tell her no….hasn’t quit gotten the hang of that word yet. Clapping doesn’t do anything either, so I actually see her from the couch and run over there telling her no while she gets litter on my slipper until I scoot her over. Hmmm I wonder if those stick on tiles are any thicker….does anyone use those?

Chuck LOVES to dig his entire litter box over his enclosure. Then pout until mom cleans it up. Then do it again.
He makes such a mess. I took wire storage cubes and had Dave bend them to fit the litter box -this worked great because I didn’t have to go buy anything and I can fit them to any litter box (He just uses pliers to bend them)-that totally solves the digging for the litter box.

For the lino-put something she *can* dig at the spot she’s digging-an old towel or a diggy box-then she’ll use that instead

Do you put anything over the grid, or is that ok on their feet?  I was thinking of doing that, seems like my only option.  Poor Archie got wood pellet shavings all over him the one day from standing behind her when she started doing that  He was a mess!

We put a blanket and tucked it all underneeth the floor to cover up the 3 spots she’s been chewing.  All she does with the blanket is pee on it.  Then Archie likes to dig at the blankets and pulls it over to reveal the hole, so that’s why it all the sudden got bigger one day.   I swear they work together to torture me   We’ve been trying to train her to the word “no” but she just doesn’t get it.  Another post talked about powerbond flooring, so I sent my husband the link and see if he knows where we could find any.  We do have carpet on the other levels and they haven’t had any trouble with them but they only dig and she bites on the ground level.  We’ll figure something out.  But I’ll definatly try the grids in the litter, getting so tired of cleaning the office all the time.

Yeah, just when I got the two of these furballs totally on track with littertraining again, Daisy decides that she wants to be a digger. And I have a very tall litterbox, but she manages to dig wet litter out of the box. Drives me NUTS, since I’m sort of a clean freak.

Had my husband bend a grid to fit in the litter and it worked!  Well so far she hasn’t tried to dig.  They both peed outside their litter to rebel but it was a one time inncident.  So happy I don’t have to clean up anymore
