  Lol after I had Pacey neutered for $276.88 I was just looking around at different vets because mine makes me a little uncomfortable with the way the techs handle Pacey. I came across a known vet in my town I didn’t even think about them seeing rabbits since the other big one doesn’t. So I just took one of my friends rabbits in for a general health and to schedule her spay just to see how they handle and the general knowledge about rabbits.
  
  They were fantastic! All the techs and vets were swooning over her and treating her like a delicate baby. I asked some not so known questions that vets usually tell me are wrong and they were dead on! So I went ahead and scheduled her spay there and they actually told me to be sure to bring her some hay and food with her since rabbits are not supposed to go without lol. I asked how much it would be expecting in the 200-300 range <--- my face when I heard $75 for any spay and $55 for any neuter! Come on! lol

  Whaaaaa??!??!?! OMG that’s freaking fantastic!!! That calibre of vet for that price!! I’m moving to Kentucky LOL

  I’m so happy for you! The cost difference is obviously because of the fact that the new vet is clearly much more comfortable with working with rabbits. It definitely pays to call around!

  Doh!!! Well, at least your friend can get a break on the cost! That’s too bad you hadn’t checked them out sooner! One thing: make sure the spay includes pain meds, females need them more than males and some vets don’t include them in the cost.

  Lol I was going “I can’t believe that” the whole time I was taking her home. The cost includes everything pre-spay exam the spay the pain medication and the follow up appointment.
  
  When I decide to get a friend for Pacey in a few months I will probably use this vet. The shelters where I am at do not spay and neuter animals so you have to have it done yourself if you are going to have it done. All the animals in one shelter get great medical care but they don’t spay and neuter. Around May and June is the only time they have rabbits since it will be the big “Easter Bunny Dump Off” as they call it.

  OH never mind. At least you have found a great new vet for Pacey………and future bun (This is great by the way!) If you begin to build a rapport with the new office, they may let you know of any rabbits needing a new home also.

  It is like finding a vet for my dogs all over again lol. I went through 12 before I found one who just fit with my dogs. I went to this office once before when one of my dogs as a puppy contracted Parvo they were great with him but the vet moved and I do not like the new dog vet they have there at all. Hopefully this new bunny vet is the one for me lol there aren’t very many here to choose from.

  I went through an awful vet before I found a good one, too…better late than never! And Pacey’s gonna get an “Easter-bunny” friend!? I wish that whole tradition were banned, but good-on-you for helping pick up the mess…and save a poor bunny!
