Im just wondering does anyone have experience with fussy eaters? my two buns eat hay and pellets and kale but that is it. Sometimes they might eat their carrot but most of the time its left untouched. Every evening i make a salad for my four piggies and they demolish it within 15mins but i have given up giving a salad to the buns as it goes in the bin! I have tried them with the following: Celery,  parsley, basil, cucumber, tomato, bell peppers of all colours, spinach, etc and the odd time they will nibble a tiny bit of the herbs but thats it. They love fruit so i give them a piece of banana/apple/grapes or pear every few days. Could i give them fruit every day as they dont seem to like veg? Any suggestions would be great…i just want to make sure my little guys are getting a balanced and varied diet!!! Thanks

keep offering the veggies in small amount to the bunnies every day.  I have one picky bunny that refuses anything new at first- but after 3-4 days she will finally try it.  Even if you have to keep throwing it away- keep offering a small amount.

Fruit daily might be too much sugar for your bunnies guts.

Thanks for the advice. I have had Henry nearly a year and offer him a small amount every day and he doesnt touch it…   Poppy used to eat everything but strangely…since she was spayed 3months ago she is gone off all veg since. i will continue to offer small amounts and give some fruit twice a week. I would just love to see them eating a more balanced diet!

Ditto Katnip, that’s the way to go. With Jersey, she would eat things when younger that if I offer them now she refuses. I notice to that if I don’t give her what she expects, then she’ll ignore anything else. For instance, I just put small amount of lettuce out. Ignored. Then some broccoli stem I’d be sure she’d have. Ignored. After I while I gave her 2 sultanas & after that she ate the greens! I was offering the greens in the place where I normally get her treats for her. Sooo, maybe give them the kale that they like and expect, just a bit less, then put a few of the new veg in with it. They’ll prob finish off the kale and hopefully the appetite will be stimulated enough to entice them to the other stuff. Fussy stubborn little fluffbutts these rabbits can be – I know!

it’s quite normal for them to be fussy-but like the others say-keep offering they’ll eventually want them!

Thanks guys, will do that…Henry was always a fussy eater but when they lived separately before Poppys op, she used to eat everything. you would swear she had never seen food in her life and once she started co-habiting with Henry his fussy eating ways rubbed off on her    There was no kale in the supermarket this week so iv been putting in bits of pepper, parsley, lettuce and apple and sure enough the apple was gone this morning but everything else remained untouched! Iv started giving them some dandelions as they have started growing in the garden with spring arriving and they LOVE them!!!
