I really, really wish I’d been able to get a picture of this.

Socialization with the “twins” has been progressing – slowly, but it’s progressing.  They all definitely have an interest in each other even if they’re not at the point where they want to sit down and have a meal together yet.  They’ve tried to sniff him a few times and you can tell he’s kinda interested in it but a little nervous at the same time and he hops off.

Carbun is also the greediest bun I’ve ever known in terms of headrubs.  He LOVES having his head/nose rubbed and will coming running to you for it.  He’ll nudge your hand if he can reach it and he wants some, or if you’ve stopped the headrubs.

Well last night he was running around the livingroom and then suddenly I noticed wait a minute, he’s stopped, and he’s got his head flat on the ground… he’s presenting himself for grooming — to one of the cats!  Well needless to say the cat had no idea what Carbun was doing so she just walked away from him.    But I mean really, Carbun, I love it that you’re being more social and looking for grooming from someone other than a human, but don’t you think a bunny would have been a better choice than a cat?  He’s silly, but adorable.

The thing is he’s such a bright bunny!! All it took was 1 time for him to see the other bunnies begging to raisins (we taught them to stand up on their hind legs and beg for them) and suddenly he was doing it too, totally on his own and without prompting!

Cats and dogs will groom rabbits. They just have to learn issall.

Poor Carbun – he might have to – oh the horror of it – groom the cat first! So that the cat gets the idea.

Cotton used to cuddle with the cats quite a bit when she was younger.  Now the cats don’t trust her because she began to present herself for grooming when the cats were napping- and when the cat “refused” to groom her, she would nip them in the belly.  So the 2 older cats don’t like being by her anymore.  Moonshine the biggest, 17 lbs won’t make eye contact with her.  Oreo glares daggers when Cotton gets in her personal space area and is more likely to whack her upside the head than groom.  And Pixel, the youngest, can’t decide whether to forget about past aggressions or not- hald the time she cuddles and grooms and the other half the time she gets worried and leaves.

The cats and Cotton got along well until Cotton started nipping them.  The cats would give a welcome to the “nap pile” forehead lick to Cotton, then Cotton would wait for more, but of course the cats were napping again- so no more grooming was forthcoming.

The cats don’t seem to hold that grudge against Penny or Schroeder- but neither of them try to cuddle with the cats either.

Told you he was quite spoiled

When he was really little he used to nip at you if you stopped the head rubs (or would come give a chomp on the finger to tell you he wanted them). Fortunately he grew out of that (for the most part at least I think as he had not done so in such a long time!). He would also sometimes stick his head under your foot while you are sitting on the couch or even walking if he can to try and get his head rubbed – he had a few near misses when owner of said foot did not see him!

Sounds like he is doing marvelous with all that attention (or possible attention from aloof cats!).
