I can’t wait!  I’m so excited to get that e-collar off of her.  These 2 weeks have been soooo long.  And I won’t be on butt wiping duty anymore.

And if I’m excited, I know Bailey’s excited even more.  She’s been irritated lately because she can’t clean herself.  She actually goes through the motions of cleaning herself, even though she’s just licking the plastic collar.  She’ll put her front paws up to her chin, lick the plastic collar as if she’s licking her hands, and then try to put her paws to her ears.  She turns around to lick her side and back and is just licking the plastic.  I think it soothes her to “think” she’s bathing.

Her wound looks great, except there is a big scab on part of it where one of her stitches came out.  It still held together just fine, but it looks like that spot has a bit of a dry scab.  Not bad, though!

I called the ER place where she got her surgery and I’ll be there around 8pm to get her stitches out.

Next thing?  Get an exercise pen.  She’s discovered drywall and baseboards recently.  No toy or cardboard has really distracted her.  :groan:

my bf and I haven’t really discussed whether Hailey should stay or go since we decided to take a break from the discussion.  I’ve been cleaning both litterboxes and cages everyday.  Luckily Hailey is soooo good at using the litterbox, so it hasn’t been much work.  I’m thinking I need to start collecting some NICs and see what I can build.  That way the pet rats can have their big cage back (the one that Bailey is in now).

That’s good news! I bet both you and she will be happy to have the conehead gone.

I’m so glad to hear ALL your good news:

            Bailey getting her stitches removed

Hailey being a good litterbox user

DH & you taking a rabbit discussion break

the rats getting their cage back

You definately sound in a much better mood than you have been in a long time.  Can’t wait to hear about the official “de-coning” of Bailey.

Going thru motions of grooming! Shows just how important it is to them doesn’t it. Good to hear she’s healed well. Just a small thing, some people utilise space well by having one cage on top of the other. So the rabbits are separated but not taking up all your floor space. A one time poster here also had pics of a condo that was L shaped and sat in the corner of a room. So 2 separate condos perpendicular to one another. Just some ideas…

Just got back. She’s bathing like there’s no tomorrow. She did a binky too.

The assistant brought her back out and said Bailey was one of the sweetest rabbits she had ever met….and soooo soft. She didn’t want to let go.

I was told to watch and see if she really starts working on her wound, then I have to put the collar back on. Because she has some scabby raw skin spots still.

I find silvedine creme works wonders on nasty scabbys.  Jessica is scar free b/c of it!
