Google the Make Mine Chocolate campaign for posters that might get the message across without you getting inundated with buns.

I agree with Wendy. Like you said, you live in a small town so you might not even get a response, but I believe your efforts would be better focused on preventing them from being purchased initially. That would make more of an impact on the petstore if they got a shipment of a a couple dozen bunnies and not a single one sells. I’d also be afraid that this would make people feel that their truly was no risk in buying one (or three bunnies!) and just dumping them off a week later. That’s a noble idea you have, but I just don’t want to see it backfire on you.

 Its a sweet idea, but you may end up with piles of un-neutered bunnies and could get quickly overrun. I was thinking that a good idea might be to talk to the feedstores/pet stores that have bunnies for sale and ask them to have a pile of info sheets next to the bunnies on display. Maybe it would be a proactive way of getting people informed before they take a bunny home. It could just have basics like required space, time out of cages/pens, recommended diet, etc.

The Make Mine Chocolate campaign was designed to target this very specific time of year – use it to your advantage.  I definitely think you need to post those flyers BEFORE easter, so that you  make people think twice before even buying the rabbit.

As wonderful as your intentions are, making yourself available to take in any unwanted rabbits, IMO, is not that realistic and something you would absolutely need to discuss with your parents first, regardless of how small your town is.  If you are serious about helping rabbits in need and your parents support you, contact your nearest shelter or rabbit rescue organization.  Tell them you want to help, be a foster home or volunteer – they always need wonderful people like you!

Here’s the thing I’m seeing. If you see ‘many’ rabbits being sold for Easter, you could probably assume that you could get every one. Those that buy one and want to get rid of it or the stores may try to shove them off on you when they’re no longer a sellable item. To make a grand, sweeping gesture like that could have you wind up with every bunny that you’ve seen. If anything, like rabbitsmba says, work with the local shelter or rescue.

I don’t know that there is a shelter near you is there? What about petstores? Maybe you could go into the petstore and try to finagle with them not to sell rabbits until after Easter? Kudos on getting the make mine chocolate posters up!
