        Hello,

I want to buy some papaya tablets for Moreland but he does not eat treats.  He will eat oats, carrots, apple but no pineapple or fresh papaya.  could i ask a favor of someone to mail me 1 tablet so i can try and see if he likes it before i invest? i will send you a self addressed stamped envelope?

        thanks in advance.

I would do that for you but I only have the old version. Since they may or may not be available in your area, it would be kind of pointless. I haven’t seen the new ones at my local store that carries Oxbow, but I’ve heard some not too great things about them… pretty much that 9 out of 10 bunnies disapprove.

I only have the older oxbow version right now too.

I bought a fresh papaya- and my bunnies refused to eat it- but all the rest I dehydrated in my food dehydrator and that is a total hit!  So they snub fresh papaya, but like dried papaya and papaya tablets.

I have also dehydrated some apples, blueberries, strawberries, carrots, etc as treats for them and they are a big hit!

angelina – have you tried raisins or other dried fruit? You can usually buy em loose from bins at health stores for very cheap and they charge you by weight – great way to try some treats without much investment!

I have tried raisins and he completely refuses. I will try the dried papaya I am interested in the enzymes. My vet told me to try plain organic yogurt too? Anyone heard of that? i tried it and of course total disapproval. He likes apples and carrots and oats. i have only tried fresh fruit besides the raisins i will give that a try. Thanks for the ideas.

About the yogurt – we generally frown upon giving adult buns dairy products.

Yes, for some reason old school vets like to tell people to feed yogurt, but buns are lactose intolerant so yogurt ends up causing more issues. Some petstores even sell yogurt treats, but those should be avoided.

I have been giving my bun the Trader Joe’s natural Papaya and Pineapple Enzyme supplement.  She loves them and they are very reasonably priced.  Of course, they are made for humans, but don’t have any weird ingredients in them.  I only give her 1 half at a time because the active ingredient levels are significantly higher (I guess that means that I get twice as many in a bottle ) than the Oxbow tablets.  I know Trader Joe’s isn’t available everywhere… I have to grab a bottle when I visit my family in Arizona, but it seems to be a good deal all around.

Yeah— I don’t really get twice as many because I always eat the half that Diego Rabbit doesn’t get. Good for both of us!! (and they don’t taste bad either)
