Bindi is driving me insane! He is constantly throwing his litter box upside down! I don’t know if he’s doing it because he’s bored or what but pushes it around his cage and then throws it over. I clean up his litter non stop and it makes for a lot of wasted hay.

He has a triangle corner pan and I thought about attaching it to his cage with some wire but I’m scared he will freak out at it and hurt his teeth. That would also make it really hard to clean. In another few weeks I should have his new cage finished and he hopefully will do it less in the bigger cage but any suggestions for now?

When I had a corner box and a cage, I would attach to the side to prevent this. What we did was drill two small holes on the back part (one on either side of the “point” of the triangle), about an inch apart. We looped a ziptie thru the holes and thru the side of the cage. I had to snip the tie everytime I cleaned it out. What you could do is the same thing, ziptie thru the back, but use a dog clip to attach the tie to the pen. In my experience, only a few times after trying to move it, he gave up b/c he realized it wasn’t going anywhere.

I agree with Beka – go ahead and try attaching it until you get the new cage set-up.

We use zipties at the shelter for the triangle boxes. It works for most, but some will head back there and chew the ziptie off! Worth a try though!

Totally thought of Beka’s ziptie/dog clip device. It’s a good little trick. Are the buns still in the living room? Maybe he’s protesting the eviction?

Thanks, I think I will try the dog clip/ziptie idea. I don’t think he’s protesting the eviction. He’s actually been a great deal less destructive towards his belongings and a lot quieter (he’s a VERY loud digger/box chewer). since he’s been in the living room. I think it might have to do with the fact I put his cage right next to Olivia’s. They can see and smell each other. Step one of the bonding process. She is indifferent towards him though. Playing hard to get.

You’re going to laugh at this one….

Pepper is Free Range but I wanted to attach her literbox to her freestanding hay rack to minimize the loose hay bits (which I am allergic to).  I tried string, rope and zipties, to no avail.  She REALLY wants to lie on teh nice cool tile and munch (and poop).

So I went to Home Depot and got a length of zinc hardware chain.  The clerk who was cutting it asked what I was going to hang with it and I replied “6.5 lbs of really determined house rabbit?”.

Punched a couple of holes in the box, ran the chan through, and looped it around the legs of the rack, and secured the ends together with a small padlock I had lying around.  I suppose I could have used a clip or something, but I had the padlock and besides it’s funnier that way.

*giggles* I LOVE when people ask what I’m buying ‘x’ for (ie. wood and string, clips and zipties) BUT nothing I’ve said even comes close to that answer!!

Well, a litterbox contains litter, hay and poop, so I HAD to draw them in.

But yeah, there’s something more than a little hilarious about having to chain-and-padlock a bunny’s litterbox…
