Well, I think you’re going to have to replace the carpet with something else, be it blankets or towels or rugs. I also have a carpet chewer and I couldn’t do anything to stop him from chewing the first rug that was in his condo. I found some small rugs on clearance at Target that I now use. I tuck the sides under so that he can’t get at the edges and it’s not like carpet where he can pull up on it. He also has a towel in his condo that he is free to chew on as much as he likes.
Now, if anyone has any ideas on how to stop him from pulling up on the carpet throughout the house, I could use some tips on that.
I bought huge tiles from Home Depot that I put under the couch to stop him from doing it there, since I can’t easily go under there and stop him. That’s worked just fine, but he still pulls up on the carpet ALL throughout the house; there is no favorite spot for me to cover and I can’t tile the whole thing. It’s driving me mad because no matter how much I disipline him, he just isn’t figuring out what “No” means. It’s frustrating not just for the sake of the carpet, but he will actually eat it if I don’t pull it out of his mouth, so I’m worried that it could cause a blockage. Arg.
