We’re taking Archie on his big date tomorrow!  I think I’m more nervous than he is!    I spent 4 hours last night deconstructing his newly constructed cage and made it into 2 seperate ones that look exactly the same.  If everything goes well with Gracie then the girl will come down to our house to make sure everything looks good and bring her over to leave her here!  I wish we could take her tomorrow but I guess we can wait alittle longer.  If for some reason we don’t think she’s right for him then we can just call over to Pittsburgh to let them know we’re on our way and we drive 2 hours down there.  They seem like a perfect match on paper but we’ll see.  He is so ready for a mate at this point, he’s grooming us and his bunny sllipper and even cuddles up next to them when he sleeps.  I’ll keep you posted!

Hey we’re back!  It was a 45 min. car ride to New Castle and he didn’t care for that and was shedding everywhere!  We arrived and saw Gracie, she was really big!  I thought they would be the same size, but she was so cute and cuddly!  Jen, the woman that takes care of the rabbits, said that Archie looks like a purebreed Holland Lop because they are usually smaller than Mini’s.  Jen took Gracie out and let me hold her, she says she’ll even let you hold her like a baby on her back!  Maybe Archie will take some notes and let me hold him after we get Gracie haha!

We let Archie out of his cage, still a little in shock from the car ride but he hopped around the room and immidiately hopped over to Gracie and touched heads and hopped off.  There was no fighting at all.  She kept lowering her head for him to groom her but he wasn’t sure what to make of her.  They looked so cute together!    Jen is bringing her on Monday at noon!  YAY We cannot wait!  She said that Gracie is as healthy as can be and was at the vet for a full check up when she was spayed.  She told us that the previous owners were trying to breed her with an angora rabbit but it turned out that she was female too so that was good.  She also said she’s still getting used to some greens since she has the soft poo sometimes.

Def. post pictures once we get her on Monday

Wow, congrats on your new big bunny. That was fast. Here we are hemming and hawing about a second bun forever (the right bun just never came around for us until now). Good luck and keep us posted.

That’s awesome! I am so excited for you! The fact that there was no aggression is an awesome sign! Ignoring is actually a GOOD thing when first meeting!

Well we got Gracie today at noon!  I was sitting at the computer and I’m like “What is that smell?” and thought we had to dump Archie’s litter but turned out that Gracie had made soft poo and boy did it smell.  I called the vet up and took her over with some samples.  She is going regular poop…pretty much all over haha!  They both peed in their cage too but I guess they were just marking their territory.  The vet is going to call in a few days to let us know if anything came up from the sample.  I’m pretty sure she’s been eating something from the shelter that hasn’t agreed with her.  She hasn’t had anymore….yet.  I noticed some bumps on her ears and asked the vet and she said it looks like it’s scare tissue….looks like she got quit the beating from those little brat kids she was with before

Archie keeps following her in his cage and when I finally let him out to run around for a bit he stayed right in the room…either to be with Gracie or make sure she doesn’t try to get into his cage haha!

I wonder if I should wait to bond them until I get the results back?  I’m so excited though!

Congrats on your new Gracie girl!! How exciting! Sounds like she’s had a rough past, poor bun. It was destiny that she’s with you!

I am just starting the bonding adventure with my Lily and the new mate she picked out on Saturday- Jester. They ignored each other at the rescue center, Lily also lowered her head for some grooming (which he did do once). They didn’t show any aggression towards each other.

We put them in the bathtub yesterday and Lily did lots of thumping. I think she was trying to tell him that he’s now in HER house! hehehe

Glad your bonding is going well!  Now if only we can get my two to bond….our first session didn’t go as well as I had hoped.  More on it in the bonding section.
