b4 I forget.    a storyteller came to our community and told a good tale  tail   etc.     The title        Do You Know why dogs sniff each others tail?

a billion years ago b4 man walked the earth the animals could talk.   The dogs had a clubhouse they used to go to to play cards.  When one of the dogs had a good hand and tried to bluff the other dogs his tail would start wagging so the other dogs would know he had a good hand.  That would happen to all the dogs.  

So one day a dog had an idea.  He said how about we put up some hooks in the hallway by the door and hang our tails up as we come in.  The dogs all agreed and up went the hooks.  When it was time for their Friday game it went very well.  No dogs tail giving away the fact that the dog had a good hand.

So some weeks later the cats noticed the dogs would play cards there.  It was the dogs clubhouse.  The cats decided on some mischief.   So after the last dog went in to play cards the cats snuck in and switched the tails around on the hooks.  Getting them all mixed up. 

Then the cats started a caterwailing and carrying on.  The dogs heard and decided to go chase some cats.   So down the hall they went gragging tails from the hooks and out the door to chase the cats.  After they ran a ways a dog said hey you got my tail..  Another dog said hey this isnt’ my tail….  They all had the wrong tails on cause the cats mixed them up on the hooks.

so today when dogs meet they go to check to see if the dog has on the correct tail.
