I am also curious about rabbit’s health.   Having read many posts where people are having problems with their precious buns health I thought I would ask….

At about what age does a rabbit seem to have developed a health problem?   3 and up?   5 and up?

I know not all rabbits will have health problems but I am curious.

I’m not sure there is a general age that a rabbit can have a health problem…I think it depends on so many things…not necessarily age. Many young rabbits can have health problems as well as some older rabbits.

Well Bindi is only 2 and he’s had like 4 ear infections. Not sure if that’s what you meant by health problems.

              Awe poor little Bindy…

well yes kind of  I am trying to get a generalization to figure out when to get pet ins.   If we all knew when our loved buns were going to be sick b4 hand they could be insured before  hand and not b4

things dont’ work that way though.

If you can aford the cost do it now! ASAP! Our REW lop racked up a Vet bill over $500, $340 for ER vet ( things always happen on the weekend ). He was 12 mo. old.
It was all worth it though, he would have died with out it, but pet insurance would have helped. I think you need to have owned your pets for 6 mo. or something. I need to look into it again myself.

I think it depends a lot on how well they were brought up. For example, I have 2 bunnies that were born in rescues and were always given a very healthy diet of greens, hay and timothy pellets, and now they are 5 and 6 and doing very well. On the other hand we have a bunny that was not brought up well, and was giving honey cakes as food, and left in a very small cage, and she has already had stasis once, and has some behavioral issues.

I think that keeping your bunnies on a healthy diet, with plenty of exercise and attention is the best prevention for illness!
