              They make good pets if you can afford to feed them! Haha. They have a much more mild temperament than their smaller cousins. Most are pretty laid back.

                allenj1 posted this pic here recently(see below). Not sure of the breed. There’s also the British Giants but don’t know if they’re the biggest out there. There’s a member here from the UK that has one. He’s Bunni-licious!

                        i don’t know if the large english breeds are available outside of the UK. flemish giants are available in the US, but they are a little hard to come by unless you go thru a breeder, which i do not recommend. someday i want a flemmie, but only if i can rescue him or her.

                          I LOVE Flemish Giants! I would love to have a bunny that I could really snuggle! Apparently, the Giants are known as being really sweet and cuddly! There was some for sale a little while back here for $25 and I was so tempted but my rabbit room is already full with 3 minis, I don’t know where I’d keep an 18lb bunny!

                          How many Romaine lettuce’s do you think one of those could go through in a week?

                              New Zealands are also large – I have a 13 pound NZ White female named Maxine.

                                We had two Flemmie girls at our local rescue for a while, and I got to pet one.

                                It is one thing to read “Flemish Giants can reach 18-20 lbs”.

                                It is another thing entirely to snuggle A RABBIT THAT IS LARGER THAN MY TORSO!!!! omg she was huge! (big poops too)

                                I know a couple of people with French Lops, and they go 10-15 lbs.   Every one I have met are total luv muffins, and I would love to have one someday.

                                      I don’t think good breeders will ship animals. There is too much risk involved. If you found a breeder you would need to go pick up the bun or work something else out with them.

                                        Scooter here.  Ok, I have to ask.  How big ARE the poops?

                                        We talked in principle about how nice it would be to have a giant bunny.  Except we’re not sure we have the space.  We’d basically have to convert a whole room for the bunny.  Then we remembered that the bunnies basically own the dining room and living room anyway!

                                          I think I would like to rescue a large breed bunny someday. One that would otherwise be used for meat.

                                          The pet store that I got Binkles at back in the day did that very thing -rescued this huge REW Flemish Giant from a farmer’s market. And OMG the snugglemuffins!!! SUCH a sweet bunny, and the best disposition. His name is ‘Ghost’ and he’s their resident shop rabbit.

                                          On that note, I also have to say that I’m not sure how well I believe the generality I often hear that larger breeds have shorter lifespans/ have more health problems. Ghost is now 11+ years old and still going strong…and they feed him POTATO CHIPS for treats!

                                          ><;

                                            I agree that shipping them would be stressful and isnt the greatest way to do it, but here shipping is the only way to get anything into town…And i dont have a vehicle so picking it ups out, its many days drive to any real place so i think shipping may be less stressful on them since it would be alot faster, a bunny would hate being cooped in a car for days.

                                            Space would be a bit of a problem but we were thinking of just giving it full run of our place, the only worry with that would be if it chewed wires….
