Well, after I lost Trixie in November I was just devastated and couldn’t think of getting a new bun.  Well I’ve been doing better and started thinking of getting a new pet but wasn’t going to rush into anything.  A couple weeks ago a friend I work with said that her friends who have a rabbit couldn’t keep it anymore.  I guess she is pregnant and just can’t deal with it but they really want to find it a good home. So I said I would take him if they decided to give him up.  I got the call five minutes ago that I could have him next week!  I’m a little nervous and scared about loving a little fuzzy again but I’m very excited to be giving this little Holland Lop a new happy home.

Does anyone have any tips for bonding with a previously owned bun?

Sorry about your loss in november, i cant imagen how hard that must have been. Congrats on the new bunny though, lops are adorable!

Im still sort of working on bonding my new little one with my other two lops, so i guess i dont have the best advice since ive had Foofoo for around a month and still havent got them bonded >.< But ive rad that you need to start them in netral terotory. Try the bathtub.

          Good Luck!

Trix loved raisins and cilantro! It will be interesting to see what this little guy likes. I’ve heard he’s a big fan of dried banana chips. I don’t know what his nutrition has been like up to this point so I’m a little worried about transitioning with that, and I’m worried that he’ll be uncomfortable in a new space with hew stuff and a new mom and new smells and everything.

Also, does anyone know if the “monthly maintenance” is very different between a rex and a lop? Trixie was a rex so that’s what I’m familiar with. TIA everyone!!

I’m fairly sure lops are the same with monthly maintenance so don’t worry about that .

Raisins! Also hand feeding things to your new bunny is good. Some rabbits bond quicker than others so just be patient and treat him like you would any new bunny. You’ll be fine & congrats!

I’m very happy for you! Funny how a bunny just shows up when the time is right. Give youself both time to adjust. Let him discover you and the new space on his own. Just be down there on the floor and let him approach you as he becomes more comfortable. The main difference with this rabbit is the lop ears. Be sure to check them over during the monthly maintenance.

Be sure to upload some pictures. Once again, very happy you are giving this guy a home.
