I have been through this too. Rabbits normally have 4 sheds per year, but two are the most noticeable. How a bunny sheds can be very individual. Some do what I call “explosion” sheds and shed suddenly and quickly and basically it’s all done within a week. Then there are others like my bunny Jack who usually takes a few weeks to shed and some days can be heavier than others throughout that time. I can brush him, but I don’t get as much fur as I would get from Rucy. Rucy, I feel like I could brush and brush even after I’ve brushed out enough fur to cover a whole nother bunny!

And yes, they can shed more on one side than the other. Sometimes that’s due to how they sit, how they groom themselves, and other times it just they way their fur is shedding. Many bunnies will get a strange sort of “shed line” and it can make them look sort of funky. Some bunnies’ fur can change color too with the new fur coming in.

I read a joke on a different website awhile back and I don’t have the orginal source, so I apologize for paraphrasing poorly… but it was basically:

Rabbits shed 4 times a year: All Spring, All Summer, All Autumn, and All Winter.

LOL!

Of course they don’t shed cotinuously, but sometimes it feels like they do. You’re probably seeing a heavy shed. You’ll want to brush daily (or at least every other day) since they are more at risk of ingesting loose fur during this time.
