My greatest fear came true…!  My poor Luna came down with a case of head tilt. I haven’t been here for a while cause it’s been too painful to write about it.  She came down with head tilt about two months ago….  I took her to the vet as soon as I saw the symptoms appear.  My vet put her on medication, I hand fed her since she still had her usual appetite and was still feisty, so I felt that she would pull through, but she didn’t make it.  I’m really upset and sad.  Her sister, Stella doesn’t know what to make of it, that her sister is gone.  She’s totally depressed and just laying around. I’m hoping that she’ll get better over time.  I don’t know what to do for her.  My poor Luna!  I can’t believe that she’s gone….

Oh no! I am so sorry for your loss. From what I understand, head tilt is very touch and go. Good for you, getting her care as soon as you saw she was ill. Maybe in time, you might like to leave Luna a memorial message in the Support forum section. Healing prayers for you and your other buns.

Extra TLC & time with Stella will help her cope.  Find some new toys and try to interest her in her environment.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to loose them. Try to give her sister more loving and help her along in her grief. Give her some cuddles and some treats and make friends with her. It’s hard for both of you, so lean on her shoulder and let her lean on yours.

OH, I am so sorry. I know this is hard! You’ve received some great advice regarding helping Stella. I don’t have any advice to add except be good to yourself too.

I’m so sorry to hear about Luna.
The last 2 months must have been an ordeal for all of you.

Please accept my condolences. You may want to take Stella to the vet to make sure she doesn’t have any illness of her own that needs treating.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. Thank you for taking such good care of her at the end.

Forgive me for not remembering, but are you the one who had 4 that were bonded together? Or was it just Luna and Stella? Depression from losing a mate can sometimes be remedied by another bun, if she already has other buns around her, they should hopefully help. If it was just Luna and Stella, I am in no way saying to rush out and get another bun. If you decide to do that, please do it in your own time. (Luna will lead you to the right bunny.)

                            Hugs!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and wishes. Stella sat next to Luna when Luna could no longer hold her head up and she stayed by her side almost to the end. It was very painful and hard to watch. My foster rabbit knew someone was wrong and I swear she was trying to console her by sitting by her cage and poking her nose through the holes. Stella is not the friendliest of my rabbits, but seemed to enjoy the company. All my bunnies knew someone was wrong, they could feel it. I will place a memorial in the memorial section once I feel up to it. Again, thanks for the well wishes.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your bunny. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved friend and I’m sure it was terribly hard caring for a bunny with head tilt.

The bond between bunnies is so sweet. I’m sure Luna knew that she was very loved, both by you and Stella.

Your bunnies seem so caring.  Yes give Stella extra attention and affection.  It will help her too.  As it will help you as well.

So Sorry.   Buns just go so quickly.  You did your best by her.  She was just ready to go it was her time.

When Cotton lost Laith he would look all around for Laith.  HE would sit next to Laith’s empty cage.  HE would also come to me for extra affection and love.

Your Stella needs you.  As does  your other bun.

I’m so sorry to hear about Luna – head tilt comes on so quickly, it seems very hard to combat it. I’m glad she had all her bunny friends by her side, and I know she’s happy where she is now
