after $250, 300 zip ties and about 6 hours i got one of the two cages finished woot!!! they are being bunny tested by my very own bunny pouffer. dont mind the ugly blankets in the pictures they are just there so the rabbits can test the cage. the plastic part is so the ferrets cant get to my bunnies durring their playtime. the cage is about 7ft X 2ft x 3ft. the other cage will be about the same but the shelving may be different.  i am also unsure if baby bun will be able to live in the cage until shes bigger because of the 1ft jump space between shelves (you think she can make it?). well here is pics of the first cage i will build and post the other one later on tonight maybe tomorrow morning depending.

Wow! That is quite the monstrosity! 😛 I have TWO buns in a quaint 2X3 enclosure with one shelf across the short side. I like to think of it as “cozy.” But I’m sure your buns will enjoy the castle!

Did you use the grids with the large gaps to make the sides?  It is hard to tell from the pics.

yes i did because they cant fit through it  and i have small hands  that fit through the large bars so i can pet them through the cage.i used the smaller mesh ones for the platformes and the two doors that are mesh. i havent decided what i am going to use as floor because  some of the support beams are on top of the shelf for some reason or another, maybe carpet of some kind i think maybe i dont know.

well seeing as how that one is built the larger rabbits because they can hop up that much space but that is subject to change. and i am going to make half chelves for the dwarf rabbits cage so they can hop up more easily. also the level above the the plastic i will build bun~bun’s cage into it….well you will see .

It looks great and it looks like you have put alot of time and work in it….but….I am really concerned about it the larger grids. The reason being is the concern of a rabbit’s head getting pushed through and stuck. I know that may seem like an impossibility, but it is a amazing what they can try and squeeze their heads through. Their heads are actually alot skinnier than most think because their fur and ears seem to add some visual bulk. I know what a HUGE pain it would be to redo it, and ultimately you will have to do what you feel is best, but I just wanted to caution you as this can possibly pose a real danger.

Wow, that’s one huge tower!  I don’t think it’d withstand an earthquake, though.

oh it is very sturdy i shook it around to make sure of that. about the bunny head fitting through well all the bunnies that are living in that one i tested it, i put their heads in it and made sure they can get out of it. i also put them each in a 1x1x1 to test and see if they could get stuck in the grid at any angle but they passed (so i think it will be fine as of yet). this cage is only for the larger bunnies the smaller bunnies cage will be made of the smaller grid. but if comes down to it and it doesnt work out i can always redo it.
