So we took Baby (a new bunny who came with Clover the Angora) to the vet today. She’s been sneezing and she needs to be spayed, so we took her to get checked out and asked if she could do a spay if a) she was healthy enough or b) she had to be put under for something else-like tests or tooth filing.
Anyways she had a really big day-xrays, culture, blood work, dental exam, tear duct flush AND spay. She’s overweight (she was loved but didn’t get the best care-she had junky pellets-good intentions of course) soooo she actually had a bit of ‘lyposuction’ -she had a pound of fat removed to get to her uterus and ovaries!! So pretty intense stuff. She has no infection at all and no allergies, nothing wrong to treat. The verdict is that she had an infection at some point that she got over, and caused damage to the nasal cavity-which means she’ll have chronic sneezing. Her eyes are good, ducts are good and nothing showed for nasal discharge. So after all that-clean bill of health with sneezing.
As for the spay-it went great. Showing on her xrays, she’s showing sponylosis (sp?) so her vertebrae are starting to bridge, because of her weight. She does not look overweight-plump-but she’s very heavy and compact.
So the plan is after the spay recovery (you know the “Doesn’t matter what they eat, as long as they are eating and pooping” she’s going on a diet!!
