Well not really yelling since my voice is hoarse right now.    I cleaned our whole house today and was tired of the boxes (from X-mas) blocking the back of the couch.  I know you guys put up those cubes to block off areas so I got what I had left and tried blocking each end of the couch…I don’t know if I’m not doing it right or what.  He came out and went right to the grids and grabed it with his teeth and was trying to move it.  The one is inbetween the wall and couch and is kind of secure but the other one can be easily moved.  I ran out of the connectors and zip ties so I was using twist ties for now.  I finally took them out because he’d pull at it and I’d try to adjust it back and they all fell apart.  I’m not having the patiences right now with that.  So I told him as long as he’s good he can run through the couch but soon as he acts up, back in the cage.

Here’s some pics of what I had.  Anyone have any suggestions??  If he does start digging or chewing behind the couch, I want something that can be easily removed when company comes over.

There he is trying to pull it out…and it almost did and fall on him

I don’t have much room to actually shuve one between the couch and wall in the back.  I don’t want to pull the couch out because the room is smaller.

So far he’s being good….running through like a mad man

You’re going to need to secure them somehow, or he’ll pull them over or grab them in his teeth and shove them out of the way.  Maybe someone else here has some concrete suggestions – my comment is based on the fact that I had to redesign the NIC-panel “gate” I had blocking my bedroom three times because Pepper kept figuirng out how to get it open!

I have some between the wall and one of our aquariums. It’s just two grids and I bend them to make a V. So the point of the V where the panels are joined go in between the wall and couch (in your case) and then the arms open up towards the opening. You should be able to change the angle to make it pretty snug. It might also help to have a narrow box or something behind the couch so that the V can’t get pushed further in. My bunnies have never tried to pull it out. So maybe you can get something like that to work so that it doesn’t barricade your entire couch in. :-p

            Hope that maybe helps some!

Maybe a little thumb tack pushpin thing could be stuck in the wall there to act as a stopper to keep the V from being pulled out as well. Perhaps…

What about using the Quick Tubes that are cardboard made for cement? They come in all different sizes but you could run one or a few back behind the couch that dead end into a cardboard box so he cant mess w/ the carpet.

We have several running along behind our couch on one side where the couch has space between the wall and couch. Our buns LOVE it! Usually the 1st thing they check out when they come out to play. The tubes are very very cheap, just a few $ a piece and none of the buns have destroyed it yet-and we have 4 buns that play in them. I will take some picks so you can see what I mean.

Always try to make things like this into toys for your bun(s)- trust me, it will make your life much easier! lol

Ok, so please ignore the mess but this is what I mean by using the Tubes as blockades the buns can play in.

They come in even fairly small sizes and you can find them at any large hardware store. Lowes and Home Depot carry them and they are back w/ all the concrete stuff.

If you cant/dont want to run one behind your couch, what about cutting one down to make into a U shape and snuggle it around that lamp table? That way the bun can go in and around like a detour?

                Ok..heres is my crappy photos…

OH….and before anyone asks….no, the buns never get on top of the tubes and try to walk on top of them..they have all tried but only once.

Have you ever seen a bunny try to walk on top of something round? Too hard for them.

Thanks Hedi! I will try to get out and find some. That would probably be better since he loves going back there and hates when we block it. So far he hasn’t done anything yet, he was hiding and laying down back there. The only problem I could see is we have a radiator down by the wall that sicks out, so we might have to pull out the couch just a little.

I have an idea – how about putting some command hooks on the walls and securing the panels to the hook with a twistie-tie?
