so  i thought i would update. baxters neuter went great no troubles, they said he was a sweety and very calm and laid back about it. Right now  hes laying in his pen and stairing at me a gave him a slice of banana and he had a couple nibbles of it. hes also been nibbling on his hay and drinking water wich is goo. i have to say i was pretty scared of getting him neutered because there was a girl on here whos rabbit went in to get neutered and didnt handel the anesthesia well and passed away during surgery   so i was pretty close to calling it off but im very happy he handeled it well. so if i get a girlfriend for baxter i will adopt one already spayed. anyway all is well. Cheers!

Yay for Baxter I just posted a reply to your other post as well. I’m glad to hear he is home and nibbling on hay already, that is a very good sign that he will be back to normal quickly. I’m glad you decided to go through with it, and I’m sure Baxter is too so that he can get a girlfriend one day.

Nixon was really swollen down there too. The vet said sometimes it just happens. I think as long as it’s not super red or oozing, you shouldn’t worry too much. Does it seem to be bothering him a lot? If you’re overly concerned give the vet a call.

Are you able to take a picture and post it on here? It’s hard to tell someone what’s swollen-like to me it might not be swollen and someone else may say really swollen or a little…Anyways a pic we’d be able to tell better.

Swelling may also be caused by the area filling with fluid which sometimes happens after a neuter.

I think a good way to tell if it’s an infection or just the body healing-their should be two incisions correct-one for each testicle? Are they both identical in appearance and swelling? If yes, that’s probably healing. If no, that could be a prob and you should get the vet to look at it

umm the insisions are both the same and the swelling has gone down a fair amount but on of his testicles are black and blue ,thats just normal bruising right?

I’d honestly say if both are the same it’s probably OK. Especially if they have gone down.

If one is black and blue-how black and blue? I don’t think I’ve seen that before but it doesn’t mean it’s not normal or healthy healing…Can you phone your vet to get their opinion on it?
