I’m further south than Kansas, central Texas, but I have a older home that’s not very well insulated so it can get pretty warm in the summer. Rather than kill the AC (and my wallet) by running the central air 24/7 and it still be pretty warm, I bought 2 small window air conditioners and put one in the bunny’s room. It was only $89 dollars and I know the buns are cool, as well as the cats who like to hang out in there.

I have a friend in Shawnee, Kansas with many rabbits – I’ll email her to see if she has any recommendations.

I live in southeast missouri close to arkansas, so I’m a little more down south than kansas city. Down here in southeastern part of missouri it is pretty common for the heat to often get in the high 80s and low 90s. I have both rabbits and ferrets in different rooms of my house and with those temperatures it is VERY important that all the rooms in my house are around the 65-70 range to keep everyone happy and comfortable. But winter is also a big problem as well. Missouri is kinda if the middle with temperature ranges so we kinda deal with fairly hot temperature in the summer and cold lower teens in the winter. So you need to make sure you rabbits stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

As for vets, I’m sorry I can’t really give any advice in that area since I live so far away. But what I would do if it was me is to call different vets and ask them questions about their experience with rabbits with general and emergency care and kinda see who you kinda get a feel for who would be good.
