        Long time no talk!

So I don’t buy organic usually, and I’m wondering how we should remove pesticides. I have the spray on remover that’s safe for humans…does anyone know if this is ok to use with bunny?

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with pesticides and dandelion greens? I’ve seen on some websites that will talk about dandelion greens but then preface with “but no pesticides”. Are pesiticdes highly used on dandelion greens or something? I just bought dandelions for the first time and I just washed with water.

Cold water and rubbing has been shown in clinical studies to remove germs and sprays. I wouldn’t try that pesticide remover on their food

Dandelions are a weed so that’s likely why they are saying no pesticides

Any pesticides used on fruits/veggies are labelled safe for human consumption, so I would expect that they should not harm rabbits. Just make sure your wash all fruits/veggies really well before giving them to your bun (you should with any you eat as well ).

No I would think dandelions grown for people to eat are fine

I think the pesticides caveat is for people who might pick them out of the yards.

I pick them out of my yard in the spring/summer…but I know for sure that there are no pesticides being used in my yard. Cripes I can barely keep it mowed!

The dandelion greens that I have grown and that are available in the stores here are Italian Dandelions, which are different from the ones that spring up in lawns. They only sell them here in natural foods stores and in a gourmet type store, and they are organic, so I don’t have to worry about pesticides. When you see warnings about pesticides on dandelions, they are talking about the ones in your lawn. Even if you don’t spray pesticides, you need to make sure that your neighbors don’t either, since the spray can drift over.

If you would like to try growing your own dandelions, Johnny’s Select Seeds has a few different varieties. That’s where I have gotten my seeds.
