I recently adopted a little girl bunny from the shelter, its just a geniral shelter, and they didnt know anything about her other than “Well i think its a girl” So i was wondering what breed she is, i was thinking mabey dwarf? But somehow that seems off. Shes tiny, alot smaller than my ‘mini’ lops. Any ideas?

Are you referring to the dutch colored one?  IF so  there are dwarfs in dutch colors.  May just be what she is.

Dutch…probably crossed with something else. She looks young and very sweet. Be sure of ‘her’ sex before putting her with the other buns too much

Your lops are sweet too – a matching pair.  Are they siblings?

I think my lops are siblings, they were together at the pet shop, Though they have had a litter together …….They died :'( She abandoned them and after a week of hand feeding them they all just died…..

                      Yeah Foofoos a sweetheart!

Sorry to hear about the buns.  Without mom, it is often very difficult to raise newborns.  Even experienced rabbit people have a low success rate in keeping baby buns under 2 weeks old alive.

I’d actually say she’s a dutch with a little bit of mini-rex mixed in. If you look at her ‘waistline’, it has a mottled edge.

Excuse the usual anthem here but are your rabbits fixed now? If someone sayed “I think she’s a girl,” then they don’t know if it was neutered or spayed.

Alhough it may be hard to find one, I suggest you do get them spayed. 80% of female rabbits develop uterine cancer, most by the age of 3.

                              she (?) is very cute!!!

Ok Allenj1 – that’s it! This has seriously been a Coinky-Dink Day! (to use one of MimzMums terms )

Markus, like that Bat Bun graphic! Should save it in the tech section in case anyone need to send out the Bat Bun signal. Never do know when you may need Bat Bun!

Tiger lily 27, I just noticed how Foofoo has a black line joining her eye markings together – that’s so cool!

I would say most definitely a dutch mix… possibly with dwarf. She looks very pretty and unique though! When you get a chance I would look into a rabbit-savvy vet to get her sexed and possible schedule a spay/neuter for the future! You mentioned that the vet in your area isn’t very experienced with rabbits, but if you let us know your general location, we can help refer you to someone!

Her body/head shape in the second and the fur on the back of her neck in the 3rd screams mini rex, at least to me. she’s very cute! She’s probably a mix of at least a couple things… can non dutch buns have the characteristic (if not a bit messy) dutch markings? did they know approx. how old she is?

Wow, there’s not a lot of vets in NWT! I only found 4 in the province in general and 3 of them were in Yellowknife – none that appear to have much rabbit knowledge.

Wish I could be more helpful.

Here’s one of the lists I found if you want to call them.

Yeah the NWT is a pretty horrably small place. Yellowknife is lucky to have a full time vet, most communitys have one traveling vet, and yellowknife has the other two.
