well i have decided to keep this little dutch bunny that was dropped off on my doorstep. i dont know its sex yet but i want to name him/her. can anyone give me ideas for names boy, girl, and neutral names. him/her is very sweet, playful, and if it helps at all him/her has a black dutch pattern. i will have pics up soon….so cute!!!!!
oh, yes, pictures – that will help with naming. I’ll have to think about it now – my mind is blank. ![]()
Yea, I love and hate naming things because I can never thing of a name! Fern, my bunny was the only pet I named a GOOD name ALL BY MYSELF, all the others were either already named, my sister named them or I gave them weird names (I named one of my hamsters Chips, because he was the color of french fries, another Beigey, because he was beige and anther Fluffy, because well, he was fluffy!).
My suggestions are limited because it seems like all the names I wanted to call fern were for a brown bunny(I will put them here anyway)!
Willow, Nutmeg, Hazel, Oreo, Cookie, Twig, Twilight, Yea…… my names are not too creative.
Hmm. I have a small list of top girl names I’m considering for Leila (Avatar) since I’m renaming her. Here they are: Bel, Loki, Harlow, Bionca or Skye. Still having trouble..since I’ve been procrastinating an awful lot so haven’t totally decided. I considered the names Acorn,Peanut and Thumper for Pudge but I guess those are sort of brown bun names.
Something may just pop into your head yet. Is there a famous character with a similar history, being left on someones doorstep? This one’s a bit different – the name Bader (meaning: full moon ) comes from the word Badara (meaning: to take by surprise). Either Bader or Badara could work for a male or female.
Bader reminds me of something…….other than Darth Vader, I can’t put my finger on it! ![]()
Wow! Her/His markings are pretty great! I wanna call him/her Squirt for some reason – lol
……..and Pipsqueak………and Mushy Moo……….and Malvin(?)
. I’m just fawning over the little cutie!
Taiku is a nice name. ;o) As you may be able to tell, I like throwing in name suggestions. I have just the one rabbit but a ton of names I’d like to name rabbits if I could have more.
I love names that have meaning or a theme, heres a link to ‘dutch’ baby names (dutch dutch, not bunnies LOL)
http://www.babynology.com/dutch_babynames.html
It gives the meaning beside them too
well i have seen some really good names so far and it will be hard to choose but i’m sure to find the right one sooner or later (especially once i figure out the sex).![]()
Patches
Buckles (My brother’s dog’s name years ago)
Button
Zippy
I also like Cookie
Him/her is sooo cute!! ^_^
Since he/she is Dutch how about Dutchess for a girl…hehe.
I thought of Oreo instantly, because of the coloring. That coloring in other animals is known as “saddleback” so Sadie (for a girl). Saddlebacked pig breed is also called Wessex, so Wessex for a boy. Motley, because his/her coat is varied. Anthracite is a fancy word for “black” which while he/she isn’t completely, is neat sounding, or could be combined with Argent (silvery white), though ‘Argent Anthracite’ gets wordy.
There’s always Alex/Alexis, Sammy/Sami, Danny/Dani, Corey/Corrie, Joe/Joey… I’m sure there are more names that can flip between the genders.
I know some of these weren’t desireable, but I hope that they at least inspire. ![]()
I do like Oreo.
More:
Hydrox
Onyx
Marble
Peanut (just cause I like it)
Pam – Hydrox ? lol. Oreo’s aren’t so common here, but on the food thing, I did think of an icecream a bit like an Oreo – Eskimo Pie. Now that’d be a bun name! Er…reading back on that……….maybe not…..![]()
Oooo – Eskimo Pie is great!
Oh my, I have fallen for two names that people have thrown out there.
JerseyGirl’s name of MushyMoo and Rabbitpam’s suggestion of Buckles! Buckles? How cute!
I’ll throw out “Doodle”. That could be either male or female too.
hmm i dont know yet but i sorta like the names sadie and twilight…….i dont know!!!!!!
I like Biscuit for a girl (or boy) and Biscotti for a boy (a.k.a Scotty).
I also like Aspen, Cole (Coal)
haha! Biscotti is cute! Bisc, Bisco, Scotti, Otti (Otto is german for #8 I think so if this was your eigth bun, that could fit)
Did you name Arwen from Lord of the Rings character? Maybe you could get something from there. I was thinking Evenstar to go with Arwen (bit like Twilight) but it’s kinda long (???)
Twilight is also nice – even Twilly or Twiggy.
actually arwen came with her name she also came with another dwarf female named galadrial (she died recently). i rescued them from someone at my school about 2 years ago they were taken care of but she just couldnt keep them anymore because they were getting a greyhound. she was so sweet i miss galadrial alot.![]()

So peoples, on with the names! 1) “Baby bun” black & white dutch doe 2) “Blu bun” grey/blue and white dutch buck
kk thanx
.
well i think i am going to name baby bun (black and white female) Coraline. that name keeps syncing to her personality so perhaps that will be her name after all. i have not gone very far finding blu buns name but i will when one comes to mind
.
Eep! Th BB brainstorming seemed to have come to a halt. Good thing you’ve revived the thread. Coraline is sweet! Sweet for a sweet baby. One thing that was mentioned a while back was letting the bun choose it’s name. A member here had written potential names of bit of paper, scatter them on the floor, then let the bun pick one up. Voila! Maybe you could try that for blu bun? Thing is, you gotta have a list of names to start with. Lol!
Dreamless, I suspect your problem with naming is because you have sooo many animals – there just aren’t enough names! ![]()
What about Bumble? Kinda cute and it incorporates the word/name blu (blue actually!)
plenty of names trust me lol… you should see all the creative names i have made with my animals (not so much in the bunnies area) it just takes alot of time for me because i have to watch them grow and be themselves which can take a while and for some reason when i look at baby bun play i feel the name coraline call to me. blu bun loves me like crazy i am no where near kidding if he had the choice (which he will soon) he will stay with me all the time. maybe thats why i cant find a name for him because i am crazy about him….like my rabbit bun~bun (that wasnt his name at first) but i was so crazy about him he couldnt even have a name, perhaps its happening with blu bun too.
either way i believe his name will come to me in time as well, like sweet little coraline.![]()
Well maybe he should be called Glue – sticks to you like glue…*rolling eyes* or Bun~Bun~2. He sounds very sweet, I’m sure you’ll find the right name too!
