We got a bunch of snow last night, so i thought why not inroduce Hammer and Rose to snow?!  Put two buckets of snow in the bathtub, but left a quater of the tub without snow just in case they didnt like it.  But they both loved it.  Hammer was first, because i figured he would enjoy it more then Rose.  He dug, hopped, zoomed, binkied and ate some of it lol.  Then he decided it was his and peed on the snow lol.  Rose dug a lot, not surprising because thats her favorite activity.  She ate some as well.  She just hopped about and cleaned her feet every 5 seconds.  They are all warm in their cages now, each enjoying a willow ring. I tortured the poor things afterward by wrapping them up and holding them in my lap until their ears were warm again, which they did not appreciate( hence the bribe for forgiveness with the willow ring lol).

        So pictures of Hammer!

They are so cute! I wonder if my bunnys would like the snow, we defently have enough, I heard they catch chill easy so I never thought of trying it. Your bunnys didnt get chill or anything?

Hammer looks like he’s right at home there. I think Rose is definitely in disapproval mode! Cute pics, thanks for sharing them. I always enjoying seeing your buns.

Haha, I put Felony’s leash on him about a month ago and dropped him out in the snow. he just sat there looking at me saying, “Jesus woman! What EXACTLY do you think you are doing?!?” He wouldn’t budge, he wasn’t happy, I got the stink eye for a good hour….

Soooooo, yeah, Fel doesn’t like snow.

I’ve heard of a few different people bringing snow in for their bunnies and I’m always so jealous because here in TX I never get any good snow. We have freezing rain tonight but my bunnies can’t even run on the tile so I don’t think they would do very well on the ice

tiger.lily- Im not positive about how cold is too cold, or how long in the snow is safe. I just turned on a little heater in my room (their room) beforehand to make sure it would be extra toasty warm in there when they were done playing. And then they were only in the tub of snow for about 15 minutes. They didnt feel to cold to me, their bodies didnt feel cold, just not warm obviously. Their ears and feet were chilly, but in less then 10 minutes of cuddling in a towel they were perfectly warm again. Like i said, im not sure exactly but as long as its not for to long or to often i imagine its fine.

LPT- Hammer looking at ease and Rose disapproving is extremely common lol. Rose is wary of everything and often looks disapproving, but ive decided that she is just still very guarded. For example if i watch her out of the corner of my eye she is happy and looks comfortable. But if she knows im there and watching she gets tense, the poor thing! She is still adjusting.

allenj- I saw pictures of someone who put snow in the tub for their buns, maybe it was here on BB..? Yea i know, havent been here in a while. I had to ban myself from BB because i was falling behind in other things lol. And yes I had a great birthday, thank you!

FluffyBunny- Rose and Mr. Bunny do look very similar, they are so cute huh!?

hooty- lol poor Felony! I too, like Felony, would like to know just exactly what you were thinking!?! lol. Rose had a minute like that too, she wasnt sure at first, just sat and sniffed the snow. But as soon as she realized she could dig in it, she figured it was safe lol.

                                  Scooter here. Very cute pictures!

As far as exposure to snow goes, if you bring it indoors then 15 minutes are probably enough. You basically don’t want them getting too wet, and much more than 15 minutes means that the stuff starts to melt and they get soaked. It’s not necessary to blow-dry them dry afterward or anything extreme like that. Maybe towel-dry them and make sure their room isn’t too cold or drafty. If part of them is a bit damp that’s probably ok because they will preen themselves clean anyway.

We will sometimes put harnesses on our bunnies and let them romp outside in the park or backyard in the snow. We haven’t done it lately because it’s been too cold, and too severe a temperature change between indoors and out is not good. But when the temperature is around -5 C or so and the weather is good (i.e., not windy so no windchill) we’ll let them hop about in clean snow. They seem to enjoy it and like digging in it. Any colder than -5 C and the bunnies stay indoors.

excellent tub photos. Very cute. I was inspired to bring in some snow for my Bunny too.

I was really hoping he would dig in it like yours, he would not. I even burried a raison in there to entise but he just wanted to eat all the snow!

I put the snow in a box on the floor for Bunny to check out. The funniest part was when he binkied right into it! haha.

Here is my bunny enjoying some Michigan snow.

I didn’t think Boston would like the snow….she didn’t mind it too much, but she spent most of the time looking for a way out—not away from the snow, just out of the confinement of the bathtub. She LOVED snuggle time in the towel after though!

Forecast for Boston: Boston has been experiencing some sudden Artic cold in the lower regions. However, it looks as though Boston will be enveloped by a warm front moving in from the South, bringing a welcome thaw and drying conditions.

Angelina-Boston doesn’t like to be picked at all actually! The most I can pick her up is to set her on my lap. No dangling in the air for her, she freaks out. She started to freak just picking her up to put her in the tub. And the towel, I picked her up quick and set her on it, then snuggled it around her. It probably never would have worked in my lap or snuggling her in the air. She just REALLY loves being groomed, that why I think she liked towel time! She’s pretty lovey dovey though–in her own terms. Be patient, it was quite awhile before Boston got used to us and opened up to us!

Jersey!!! THat is fricken cute! Gonna add that to my facebook, if thats okay?

Adorable snow bunnies! It’s tempting to try but I’m pretty sure the results would be as follows: Stormy and Olivia : terrified and a very disapproving Bindi. Probably not worth the effort of shoveling the snow into the bathtub

yeah that is why I put Bunnies snow in a box on the floor. I knew he would just be worried about why the heck I put him in the bath tub instead of playing! I bet my bunny might even have played in it more if I had just put it on the floor like that instead of the shallow box. Maybe I will get him a scoop some other time
