I have bunnies and cats living with me at home, a problem is that one of my bunny has a new hobby of digging up cat litterbox, which isn’t a good thing since it’s filled with clumping litter. How do I stop his habbit? And if I put the litterbox on high platform, he still could jump to get to the litterbox and my cats don’t seem to mind sharing the litterbox with him.

Huh that’s a tough one. Actually what about getting a coverd cat litter box with a flap door on it (they sell them cheap in walmart) and I don’t know any bunny who’s figured out the flap door; If we use them we have to take the door off.

It’s a good idea to stop him in the litter box promptly-clumping cat litter is not good for buns!

          Welcome by the way!!

The thread title cracked me up! I can only suggest putting something in there that cats like the smell of but rabbits hate… otherwise try a non clumping, bunny safe litter for your cats and let him have at it.

K&K………um…Jersey uses a covered litterbox with a flap door….is she weird?

Yeah I was gonna say, just get Yesterday’s News for your cats or something and then your bunny can just share the same litter box?

I should change my cat’s litter to a somewhat more bunny friendly, maybe Feline Pine? Is crystal cat litter also dangerous for bunnies? By the way my rabbit does bond with one of my cat. Sometimes the cat grooms my rabbit. But it just annoys me that he’s actually digging it for fun. And so I have to clean the cat litterbox often so that he doesn’t play with cat poop.

One of my friends had this issue and she put a low exercise pen around the cat litterbox because the cats could climb over the pen but the bunny couldn’t. Could you possible put the litterbox even higher like on a table and have stairs up to it for the cats? Maybe then the bunny wouldn’t get all the way up there. I wouldn’t want my bunny playing with cat poop either

A fence might just be a good idea! Putting on table or high platform with stairs just won’t work because my rabbit actually LOUNGES on tables and somehow could find a way up there. When I shoo him or say ‘no’, he will do it again when I’m not looking. Gee, such a stubborn bunny.
