Does anyone else have a non-climbing bunny?  Everybody talks about their buns getting up on the couch or the bed….not mine.  There’s several boxes for her to play with in the living room and she’s never shown an inclination to get up on them, just chew on them!    My former house-bun was a couch fanatic and would spend the evening stretched out on the couch next to me getting petted.  Quantum will walk over to the couch, do the “telescope bun” and look, but never tries to get up there.  We were thinking about making a temporary ramp and see if she’d come up and check it out, but…………..  Maybe she’s afraid of heights.

We were thinking about building her a NIC bunny condo, but would she ever use the upper floors?

I’m beginning to think Samantha doesn’t like heights. She doesn’t jump up on things or show interest in climbing. I lowered a platform in her cage this week because she almost never used it, and now she’s gone onto it several times.

She still likes to be held for a quick cuddle, but if I stand, she almost gets panicky and I think it’s due to the height. I discovered that when I cover her eyes in the process of moving her, she struggled much less. It wasn’t the holding, it was the view to the ground.

Yup Kahlua is scared of heights. If shes coming off the couch (of which it took her over a year to muster up the courage to go up on) she waits and looks for a few minutes then bounds off so far she’s cleared the room on landing!

See I got Felony thinking bunnies don’t really like to jump up on things. He climbs everything. Literally everything. Even if he can’t see where he’s going to land, he’ll jump it. Weirdo

my Max isn’t too big on heights. when i let them out, first thing, Meadow runs to the Maze and climbs up into her fav spot. Max will eventually join her, but he’s so cautious, it takes him a good ten minutes to get the courage to hop up there. you might actually consider getting the BinkyBunny maze. it can be configured to be a single story or two story. if it’s a two story, the height to the second level is only about 8 inches or so, so he might not feel as intimidated about hopping up there, plus it is all enclosed so it’s more “den-like”. if he absolutely hates the second level, you can always change it into a single story maze for him to play in.

Sophie wouldn’t climb, until she realized she could. Have you tried putting your bunny on the top of the boxes or on a low couch? Let her discover that she can up and down.

I think you might want to test the waters by showing her up on the boxes and on the floor.  My buns have a multi-level condo and love every level.  But during hip/hop time they NEVER jump up on furniture.  Jessi will easily run up/down stairs, but not Leo.  I’ve tried to show him how to do stairs, but he has no interest.

Hmmmmm…maybe I’ll wait a bit and then try a makeshift (but sturdy!) ramp just to see if she has any problems with it. It’s comforting to know it isn’t as odd a problem as I was thinking it was after seeing tons of pictures of buns zooping around in multi-level cardboard castles and cages.

And Hooty? I just know that if Felony was a two-instead-of-four-legged guy he’d be into all sorts of extreme sports and bungee-jumping. “GERONIMO!!!!” I can just picture him launching off your couch!

And, Beka? Is it Max or Meadow who has the flopsy ears? They’re a beautiful color-combo in any case….

My Warri doesn’t like to jump on things either. Every now and then he’ll get up onto the shelf of our coffee table, but thats it.
Peepi likes to jump on boxes, but he’s never showed an interest of getting up on the couch or other furniture.

Have you tried putting treats on top of things so Quantum has to jump up get them? She might find that she likes jumping if there might be a piece of banana on top of a box…
