I think the thing that charms me the most about President Obama is his quiet dignity and his amazing ability to speak.I loved that he just got out of his car during the parade and started walking along. I can imagine all the security people having a heart attack! LOL. It was very ‘normal’ of him, making him seem really down to earth.

Also (on a bit of a side note) thos pics of him in Hawaii show that under his well cut suit are abs of steel…lol.

Yes, he’s a good man and I think he will be a good leader.

Yes, it’s been a sort of tradition since Jimmy Carter that the new presidents get out of the limo and walk part of the way.

(exception was Reagan in deference to his age in 81 and the terrible icy weather that cancelled the entire parade in 85….yes, I love history)

President Obama wasn’t my choice, but he is my president and I send him and the First Lady my prayers and well wishes!!

I agree with his manner of speaking… The man could say he shat rainbows and lollipops and I’m pretty sure I would nod my head in agreement… All I can say is I’m excited to see where he will lead.

Oh I see, well I’d never been interested enough in international politics to watch Bush’s inauguration…now I try to keep up with foreign affairs. Infact I don’t think I even watched Aussie politics until a few years ago. I used to be a poster-child for our apparently apathetic generation lol.

Yep! I skipped lunch today and watched it with my government teacher. I agree he is a great speaker and i think he will be a greater leader. This year ive found that i really like to watch all the campaigning and debates.. oddly fun for me lol

Yes this is all so very exciting for us here in the U.S.  HE seems really down to earth.  OH yes a mag got him a nickname.  Pres Beefcakes hehe.

He seems the type who will listen weigh options and make decisions on what he has heard from diff sides and what he feels is best for this country.   This is a really positive time in our history.

Glad the prev presidential era is gone gone gone.

I been watching the inauguration off n on today.   There seems to be so much hope right now.  Gona take some sacrifices.  Hopefully we can get back on track now.

I laughed so hard when that journalist threw his shoes at Bush.   Was hilarious.  HE just ducked aside. Hehee. The guards at the jail that the shoe thrower was  in gave him a 2 hour party.

I read so many things in the opinion section of the paper.   Like get out now and let us move forward Mr. Pres Bush.  OH dear.  People have very strong feelings for and against.

So time to look forward now I really think the just past presidency should be held accountable for some things.  Well anyhoo.

                    Lets go forward.

Haha I LOLed at “Pres Beefcakes” xD

How very exciting for the Americans on this board (internationally too!) I’m looking forward to this chapter in American history.

Oh Bunnytowne the shoe throwing incident. My first thought was “Where the @#$! is the Secret Service?!?” Second thought “Man, he’s spry.”

the shoes yeah Bush didn’t even faze him his expressions heehe. He can be as cool as a cucumber Bush can.

You know what is scary though.   Calif cannot pay the citizens their state income tax that citizens get refunded to them.  They are putting out an IOU.   Also they are talking of cutting back on mental health services or food stamp type services.  That is scary.  I read that in our newspapers

Yes this is a beautiful moment in history.   The day after MLK day too.  I can see things getting better within U.S. and with other nations as well.

what was surprising is he got the 2nd shoe off and tossed too.  I was kind of stunned after the first shoe flew past Bush’s head.

This may be the first president since Kennedy that we could put on a calendar, that’s for sure 😉

Yeah, that shoe throwing incident, first thing I thought of also was where were the secret service, and boy, President Bush has great reflexes because that guy was throwing HARD! I’d have caught both of them right in the head.

Just think of the award the SS guy would have gotten…..he took a shoe for the president!

lolz…I don’t think my husband wants me thinking about my President’s abs… ^_^

He also was not my choice, but there is something about him that gives me (dare I say it?) hope. But since I have a draft age son, I am reserving judgment until I see if he brings that back. Then I will probably change from hope to fear.

He was my choice, albeit once the primary was decided, and I think it is historic in a few ways. I agree with BT, especially about holding past presidents, namely GWB, accountable. It was Florida that had the messed up voter count, ultimately earning GW 4 more years. Did you know his brother Jeb Bush was the governor of FL at the time? Anyway…

I had to run to open the museum this morning because 3 volunteers scheduled to be in to man it as usual called and left a voicemail saying all 3 of them were not coming in. so I got pulled from the staff meeting, ran over and let in 15 visitors waiting at the door. Then the rest of the staff was invited to watch a big screen TV of the inauguration in the next building, but we didn’t have a TV so I was left alone with 2 visitors who obviously did not vote for Obama. I didn’t get to see more than the last 5 minutes of his speech when a 2nd shift volunteer came in a bit early to cover for me. I was so, so mad at the morning 3. They Knew it was happening since November. Did they tell us? Did they give us time to arrange it with someone else? Noooooo.

Well, Sammy and I have now watched it on CSPAN, so I feel better. As for George Bush, all I can say is this time 8 years ago. the new administration moved in and the Clintons moved out. But before the staff left, the took out all the “W”s off of all the keyboards in the White House as a practical joke on the new Bush administration. The first thing the Obama staff did was check to see if their keyboards were intact. They were.

Ohhh I heard that and ment to post about it!! Californians are getting IOU’s on their tax refunds?? That’s very scary…Also I’m wondering if people owe are they allowed to issue IOU’s ? I think not… pretty unfair.

Something about him is pretty hunky and I love that he’s such a family man. Won’t get into politics though, and really I’m not that well versed in international politics anyways (But you should hear me rant on Canadain politicians LOL )

Well I guess most of us can rant on our domestic politics more fluently than in international politics…

I’d be pretty ticked off if I got an IOU for my tax refund! I’d send it back with a note saying “Show me the money!” It’s so sad that the underprivileged have to suffer in times of crisis, and probably they would depend on a tax return if they knew it was coming to buy things like computers.

We did celebrate today with a toast of champagne. I am so amazed about how far we’ve come so far. . Regardless of who anyone supports, as some of the reporters were saying – It’s incredible history to see Obama be sworn in in the very building that was built on the backs of slaves. It’s a bitter sweet accomplishment. And to be the first president sworn in on the very bible that Lincoln was sworn in on….amazing.

Congratulations to everyone. Even if Obama was not your first pick, I really feel like the country is coming together, and people all over the world as well.

My school was showing it for free on a big screen at the student center, and I was able to watch between classes. I personally am psyched. It’s the first election where I could vote, and I helped make history! I’m really excited for everyone.

When I was watching recaps on the news my bunnies were doing so many binkies! I tried to get pictures, but didn’t get anything good.

Check out this crazy picture of the innogeration. You can zoom in and see everything! The mass of people look even more impressive like this than on tv. There is one thing that is kind of creepy though. There is a pair of legs walking around with no body! Just calves.
Zoom in on that short fence near the center right before the camera tower. It’s weird.

What’s kinda creepy is the detail you can get when you zoom in! Didn’t find the legs but did see 1) a lady with top half of head missing 2) a guy with two faces and 3) a man walking with 1/2 a body and no lower legs (split down the vertical).
It’s kinda like playing “Where’s Wally in Washington”
