So, we all know I’m a little kooky… I find a huge amount of stray animals and I catch them and put them in my car and find the owners (and am late going places as a result of course!) so much so that my family and close friends accuse me of ‘kidnapping’ animals!! I’ll stop to pet someones dog and they point out to me that it Does Not in fact need to be rescued (they think they are soooo funny).

Well I was quite pleased as my mom started bringing home stray dogs too. She was always after me for putting strays in my car and bringing them home, until she came home with a huge husky she found wandering on the highway. I was impressed.

Now…Dave and I were chatting, seems he mistook a jackrabbit for a domestic rabbit and actually spent forty minutes chasing one around in the cold last week!! LMAO

We went over how you can tell a jackrabbit from a domestic rabbit (LOL It’s not really that hard )

but holey moley, I could not *Believe* he got out of his car and chased around a ‘stray’ rabbit (well, he thought it was  a stray ) sooo cute!!

I must be rubbing off on him LOL

Not to mention the fact that there are about a zillion jackrabbits in Edmonton. Lots of “strays” to chase!

I can just imagine people driving by, wondering what that loony guy was doing…

And your BF thinking how pleased you were going to be with him for “saving” the rabbit…

                And the rabbit going, “WTF?!!!!”

                HA!

Hahaha, well atleast he didn’t catch it, not that he would have had much chance. Can you imagine if he bought home a jackrabbit LOL.

Aww! Imagine if someone was filming him and he shows up on local news or something! Well hope this experience won’t stop him from stopping any other time for bun rescuing.

Edit to add:….  You’re always looking for new prank ideas right?  Maybe you can somehow convince him he was being filmed…or send a fake letter to him from your local council, stating “the terrorization of local fauna is prohibited and there will be a fine pending”…….etc

HAHAHHAHA!! That’s funny, but yet, very sweet.

A long time ago, a local rabbit rescue I volunteered for cared for an injured jack rabbit. They set it free once he was ready but while he was healing, I was able to see him close-up – VERY powerful, and a totally different feeling than our cute an fuzzies at home. It is like comparing a cheetah and a domestic cat. Incredibly beautiful.

I’m still trying to figure out how he could have thought that a jackrabbit was a stray! Those Edmonton jackrabbits are HUGE! The first time I saw one I thought it was a wierd looking dog until it started dashing away.

S&A I know!! I’m like well what color was it? …white. How big was it? …pretty big. When it ran how big were the legs? …way longer then our rabbits…

                                  Ok…Dave…that was a jack rabbit

                                  *snork*

If I would have seen a white rabbit, I probably initially would have thought it was a stray too. I’ve only seen brown wild rabbits….

The jack rabbits here turn white in the winter.. it’s pretty neat actually, watching them change colour in fall. I’ve never lived anywhere that had wild rabbits before.

Does Australia have jackrabbits? I’ve only seen the brown ones. On xmas day I saw a big white bunny outside someones house but when we drove back he was gone. I still worry about the bunny….
