It’s been 5 weeks now since we’ve adopted Archie.  He’s been pretty active but these past few days when I let him out the entire day (usually I don’t have him out the whole day but it’s been snowing and I’ve been home all day) he’s been laying around.  He goes to sleep around 3ish and lays there for an hour or so, walks around a bit and lays down again.  It’s almost 7:30 and it looks like he could go back asleep.  I’ve noticed his nose was a little we, nothing green or yellow.  He’s still sneezing every so often.  I thought it might be because we haven’t dusted for awhile, so I did vacuum today and am dusting the furniture off.  If his nose is still runny by Sunday I’ll call the vet.  He does get more awake by 10 or 11pm.  Last night he ran around a bit…not as much as usual.  Has he just gotten used to the house?  The weather (it’s awfuly cold and I’ve put the heat up a little more)?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the answers to all my questions….feel like I’m always on here asking another question

        EDIT:

Archie just got done sneezing like 10 times in a row again and white thick mucus was coming out of both nostrils…poor guy! I think he was embarassed

In terms of the activity-they’ll be more active in a new environment for sure, he’s probably settling in and feeling more at home.

Rabbits are crepescular, and are awake in the late evening and early morning. About one AM mine start going bonkers, back to sleep around four am. At eight or so they’re ‘off the walls’ again until about eleven am. Then sleep all day. So what your describing is normal.

The sneezing should be looked at, could be pasturella which is easily tested for

If there’s discharge coming out of his nose of any sort, I would really recommend taking him to see a vet. It’s ok for them to sneeze every so often because of hay dust or something, but mucus is something you should worry about!

Thanks guys, I’ll call the vet Monday.  It sucks because we have a vet right down the street but when I called they don’t specialize in rabbits so I have to drive 15-20 minutes to the vets but at least she knows what she’s doing.

Great you found a good vet.  Buns can also get bordatello which is an infecton respitory I think.  And would needs antibiotics.  Or pasturella.
