  Bindi drinks from a large crock and his chin always seems to be wet. He drinks and then tries to wipe his chin right after but most of the time when I pick him up his chin is wet. I’m just wondering if anyone’s else’s lops have a wet chin from drinking in a crock. He drinks alot and immerses his chin.
  
  I’m just curious because upon doing some reading about ear infections (which he has now) I read that drooling can be a sign of teeth problems. I don’t know if he’s drooling or if it’s just wet from using the crock as he has long fur on his chin and cheeks. His front teeth seem normal, they look about the same as Stormys.. I’m going to get my vet to do a teeth check on his next visit.

  Chuck drinks from a crock and doesn’t seem to get wet. I wonder about the drooling. Could you switch to a bottle for a couple days and see?

  sometimes pepper will dip his paws in his crock and wipe his chin and face. maybe this is happening and hes just getting extra wet? lol

  mine both drink from a water bottle, so i can’t help with you there. i’m sorry to hear that Bindi is having more problems… i just scanned the forum and saw you posted again about Bindi so i’m on my way to see what’s up over there…

  My lop drinks from a crock and sometimes she does get her chin wet and other times she doesn’t. I’m sorry to hear Bindi’s having health issues again. If Bindi can drink from a water bottle you may want to try that and see. My other bunny, Mr. Bean couldn’t figure out the water bottle, so I switched him to a crock.

  All my buns have both a water crock and bottle in their cages. My lop goes back and forth between the two-typically no real reason why he will drink from one or the other.
  I have never noticed if his chin is wet after drinking BUT my lop drags his ears thru everything! Maybe little boys shouldnt have lop ears if they cant take care of them?! lol The tip of his ears is always wet or dirty…poor guy needs them pinned up or something. lol

  My lop drinks from a water bottle but I had experience with my dwarf mixed who started drinking from a crock because every water bottle we had bought before would leak a lot. (We finally found one that doesn’t as much) He always got his chin wet but he refuses to go back to his bottle. We’d always have to clean it too, somehow he would get poo in his water

  Nixon won’t use a bottle, so I have a crock. He’s not a lop, but his chin ALWAYS gets wet.. then he likes to rub his wet chin all over me. I thought it was normal, maybe not? Another thing I’ve noticed is when he’s chewing his veggies, he drips green liquid all over the place from his mouth. I don’t know if this is normal. I wash his veggies right before I give them to him, so maybe that’s why, but they don’t seem that wet. Either that or he’s drooling A LOT. Does anyone else have this problem?

  My six all drink from large crocks. Lola, my white rex, loves her piece of carrot, by the time she gets through, she’s got bright orange dribbled all over her dewlap. I thought it was blood the first time time saw it out of the corner of my eye….lol

  Pepper has always had her water in a bowl – regular ‘people dishes’, actually. Occasionally she’ll be a bit damp right after drinking, but nothing like you’re describing.

  my bunny is a mini rex and he drinks from a bowl. His chin does always seem to be damp and he rubs it on stuff all the time.
  I was wondering if there is a scent gland there or something. He rubbed his chin all over the used bunny cage I got him, and new toys and such.
  Or when I hand him an object, sometimes instead of taking it he just rubs his chin in it.

  That’s called “chinning”, and yes they have a scent gland. He’s just marking everything as his

  I figured as much. I just stuck my fingure out to his nose to pet him and he rubbed his chin on it. Hehe. So I must be ‘his’ now.

  xParadisex I’ll make sure the vet knows about that, just so she thuroughly checks his teeth when he’s in for his neuter! I’ve noticed with wet greens mine get green faces-then green paws from cleaning their noses. But if it’s a lot we’ll get his teeth looked at for sure!

  I’ve noticed that Archie had green around his mouth and was just going to ask about that. He gave himself a bath today and cleaned it all up.

  Oh thanks Lesley, I was going to suggest that. His face doesn’t really get green, there are just green drips everywhere when he eats veggies. He has a HUGE appetite, so I wasn’t too worried, he’s eating really well. But it’s definitely worth a look.

  I actually did a little experiment yesterday. I woke him up several times after he’d been sleeping for a while (I know, I’m such a mean Momma) and his chin was dry so I’m pretty sure it’s just from the drinking.
  
  Speaking of getting green on the face from eating greens, Bindi does the funniest thing. Sometimes when I give him the dark part of the lettuce and he eats it out of his bowl, he will look up and he has a little green hitler-style mustache. It’s so hilarious! Even Ricky thinks it’s adorable

  I have a lop that has a crock, and she does not seem to get very wet when she drinks from the crock. I do have a couple uppy eared bunnies that are messy drinkers though, and usually they have to use their tongue to lick all around their mouth to dry themselves off after drinking

  I’m a little late on this – Frankie isn’t a lop but he does drink out of bowls and crocks a lot of the time and almost always manages to get his chin wet! I think he’s just a sloppy drinker bc he has no teeth problems or anything. I doubt it’s something you need to worry about.

  Dallas makes a mess of his chin when he drinks, today it was dripping water all around his cage after he got a drink. lol

  abbie is an english lop and yes, she drinks from a crock.. i havnt noticed it keeps her chin wet, if nothing else shes pretty good at cleaning herself off and making sure shes nice and dry.
