        Hi everyone!

So it has been 2 weeks since i started bonding Tigerily and Takoda, today they spent the whole day in one cage and groomed eachother and slept besides eachother and also on their own. They have not fought since we started trying to bond them and when i separate them for the night they both look so sad!

I am leaving for my trip tomorrow and have a sitter coming in 2x a day to check on them. Should i leave them in 1 cage for the entire night and see how it goes? If it goes well does that mean they are bonded? is it likely they will fight?

So if I am understanding you correctly, they get along great but they haven’t spent a full 24 hours together yet, and before you go on vacation, they will spend their first night together?

IF that is the case, then I would not recommend leaving them together while you go on vacation (even though you have a petsitter 2x day) because what CAN happen sometimes is  they can begin to confirm  their heirarchy once they are living in the same pen. There are more chances to be bossy over a favorite resting area or even the litterbox.  Sounds like your won’t have much of a problem, but under the circumstances of you not being there more, I would not chance it.

Will the petsitter have enough time to let them hang out together for a little bit when s/he does come? This will help prevent set-backs.

i agree that it’s not a good idea to proceed until after you come back. it would be ideal if the sitter can allow them at least a little bit of time to play together (even if it’s just 20 or 30 minutes) and then return each to the other bunny’s pen. i think that’ll give you the best chance of the bonding not moving back a step or two while you’re gone. but if that’s not possible, i would not worry too much about it. you can just pick up where you left off after you get back. the most important thing is that the bunnies are safe. living together is not something you want to rush, esp. if you’re not going to be around to supervise.

Yes, unfortunately the timing isn’t great. If you were home, I’d plop em together for the weekend and keep an eye on them. If it’s just a petsitter, I’d just wait until you come home to finish up.

Where are you off to btw?
