My bunnies love apple branches, and I was thinking of trying soaking popsicle sticks in apple juice and then drying them in my food dehydrator on low so they dry quickly from both sides (top and bottom). I know that I can easily find no sugar added pure apple juice- but what should I look for in the popsicle sticks? it seems like craft sticks don’t say what wood they are made out of or if they are treated, etc.
What has everyone else used? And do bunnies really like these? I think I saw that these were included in the “christmas bags for shelter bunnies” campaign that I read about on bunspace.com. Any ideas other than popsicle sticks?
My bunnies are seriously obsessed with their apple sticks/branches- they chew all the bark off immediately. Thank goodness my Grandmothers farm has an apple orchard and the trees need to be trimmed anyway. I bring home pillowcases of branches, let them dry and them cut them into smaller 6 inch pieces or so. I have never read if there is a limit or not on giving apple branches. Of course if you don’t have access to apple trees the price alone will limit you!
When Binky Bunny gets Willow bundles back in stock- I want to try those for my bunnies!
