        …Until Nixon’s neuter!

It’s gotten so bad lately, the mounting I mean. I was getting so excited because he seems to be getting super comfortable now. The first couple weeks he was eating, but not a ton. And his veggies and pellets would sit there all day- he’d just nibble every once in a while. Now he’s gobbling them up as soon as I put them down. I bought some Meadow grass hay because that’s the only other thing the pet stores around here other than timothy hay (which he wasn’t eating much of) and he’s eating TONS of that now. Plus he flops about 100 times a day. So I was thrilled, he seems to be getting comfortable and he seems.. happy!

The only problem with his new-found happiness is that he’s become more persistant in humping EVERYONE in the house. He’s always after our limbs, and I don’t know what to do! He’s become increasingly aggressive with Heidi (our dog), and she CANNOT get away from him. He is constantly mounting her, and he grabs onto a big mouthful of fur while he’s doing it. She’s getting kind of afraid of him I think but I don’t know how to stop it! I try to pull him off of her, but I can’t because he’s got such a grip on her fur. As soon as she gets away, he’s after her again. I don’t want to punish Heidi for this by locking her in another room or something, just for her protection. This has only been going on for the last few days or so, but he doesn’t seem to be giving up at all!

Eek. What to do, what to do?

Maybe try limiting Nixons space to a large penned area. You don’t what the dog/rabbit relationship to sour after such a good start. Sounds as if Nixon is showing you all how much he LOVES his new home – lol !

Is he neutered or highly dominant.   Or both?   Neutering should  solve the humping behavior pretty much will go away

I agree with Jerseygirl – maybe as a form of “protection” Nixon needs a pen or something to stay in until his neuter. I would be a bit concerned about him harassing the dog because if he is to insistent about it, I’m afraid she might turn to snap at him to get him away. Even if she isn’t intending to hurt him, rabbits can get scared very easily. I don’t think it would be a punishment to Nixon to have a limited play area for the time being. Right now, all of my bunnies have their time out in large ex-pens.

It sounds like he is super happy if he’s doing so many flops for you – good job!
