Hey all, thanks for your continued support!

i snapped some pictures of all three babies in the nest this morning, serves a double purpose, cute baby bunnies and an illustration of how much smaller Runty is then the other two (who seem to be doing awesomely).  Mom has left all three in the nest for over 24 hours now and she does appear to be feeding all of them.  Runty’s coloring looks healthy and he is very active.  Maybe he’s going to pull through!

Oh, Starbuck is gorgeous. I hope Runty makes it too. I know the whole situation is stressing you out.

Look how tiny they are – Starbuck is a good Mama.

Helo isn’t a lop is he? He didn’t look like one in the pictures.

It’s terrible I know, but I do not know what breed Helo is. I looked on a few sites to help me try and figure it out, but I couldn’t tell.

It’s not really important (the breed) so don’t worry. I have a few rabbits that are just bunny rabbits, no specific breed. If that’s Helo in your avatar he looks somewhat like a Florida White to me.

Actually the one facing the camera in my avatar is Starbuck, you can see Helos behinder though as he runs for cover. When i was going through the breed finder website I found I thought Florida White looked about right as well.

Oh, my, he is small. But if Mama Bunny is feeding him, she must think he has a chance, and as they say, Mothers know best. She is very beautiful, I love white lops too.

That ain’t regal.  That’s a tired bun who had 3 kids to care for.  I think most mom’s with 3 kids and a dad who just binkies around look that way.

Actually, that brings up a question. Do ‘breeding does’/ new mothers require a more protein rich diet?

So far so good with the little bub!

OH so adorable! Runty does look like a little mouse! I’m pullin’ for the little bun!

jerseygirl – my understanding is that mothers should have more pellets – unlimited I think.

Maybe Momma thought Runty was just too small and from instinct put him out of the nest but now that you have put him back a few times she has decided to care for him and hope for the best?
With everyone talking that Momma would know something was wrong and put him out to let nature take its course..maybe being a new Momma she just didn’t know and put him out and he may be just fine and just small?

With so many BinkyBunniers pulling for Runty s/he has to pull thru!! I always like the little runts..so cute!

Markus-Your making my sides hurt as usual LMAO!!!

Jersey-> I contacted a couple breeders and basically besides unlimited food (whatever they need, feed them) they really need water-they’ll drink more to stay hydrated to do milk; But otherwise they’re bascially on the same food as everyone else. Good to know! I’ve been feeding Momma what I give to our flemish giants and bonded pairs, to ensure she has tonnes to eat

Sinistermoses-> Maybe hes just a runt!! *fingers crossed* Thats great mom is feeding him!! It’ll be nice in a few weeks when all this is behind you and you have two or three healthy baby buns you know will make it. This stage is so stressful!! I would definitely not want to be a breeder-too hard!!

From your pic runty doesn’t look like a peanut.   From what I know breeders feed alfalfa pellets some with calf manna mixed in for their breeding does.  They do require more nutrients.  In the shape starbuck is in I would definitely feed at least alfalfa pellets to her and when her young start eating it is good for them too.

The alfalfa with calf manna in it is found at feed stores.  Probably  the smallest bag will be 25 lbs.  That may be too much  and go bad though.

Runty does look like his ribs are showing unlike the others.  I am so glad she is feeding him.  yeah runts are nice.  I dont’ know why but we like them.

I hope that it turns out I was wrong about him, and that he teurns out fine.
