So a while back I posted that I was looking into adopting a rabbit K&K had at her rescue, Peter Cottontail. Well, shortly before Christmas, Lesley dropped him off- and I couldn’t be happier! Not only was Lesley extremely helpful (thanks again), but Peter (who is now known as Nixon) is pretty much the sweetest rabbit ever! All we need now is a neuter to save our limbs (and even the dog!). XD
But for now how about some pictures? Here’s Nixon..

And who doesn’t love a curious bunny nose? ![]()

Hanging out with Heidi

Both of ’em don’t attack your cords???
Glad it worked out and your were able to take Peter/Nixon, he looks to be living it up! Your dog looks pretty spunky too – he he he!
Congrats! I also have to say, maybe some bunny proofing is in order.
Those cords looks mighty juicy and tasty to a rabbit.

I have done bunny proofing, that’s just the Playstation console which is normally put away. We watch closely when it’s out, but he hasn’t gone for them once yet! The rest of our cords have those cord protectors on them. But he’s not a big chewer anyways. I always appreciate suggestions though, so thanks ![]()
WOW That’s soooo nice to see pics of Nixon!! He sooo deserves a great home after all he’s been through and he looks super happy! That one with the pup is adorable!
Oh just wait until the first cord-munching!!
We read up on some bunny stuff before we got Bailey, although not enough as we probably should have. We thought no, not our Bailey, he’s so little and sweet and cuddly and we’re keeping an eye on him and he’s not going to chew any cords, not our Bailey. And then I realized that my mouse wasn’t working, and it’s because he’d chewed through the cord so quickly that neither of us saw. That was the first night we got him!

Congrats – He is beautiful. Love his eyelashes. He looks very happy.
thanks for the update! Nixon is gorgeous! i love his coloring, that pretty, kind of dusty, white!
i also lost a mouse (and keyboard) cord some time ago… with Mead it wasn’t even a full chew, just enough of a bite that she severed some of the wires and the dumb thing was useless…
so they get along? Nixon and Heidi? that’s awesome!
Congratulations! Nixon is a gorgeous rabbit.
He’s adorable!
What gets me is that they start out all cute and sweet and adorable. Then they explore home. Then they decide it’s theirs. Then they get certain you’re a trained bunny slave.
Then they do mischief. I speak from recent experience. The adorable Sammykins, who has been delightful as she chews all her seagrass mattes and toys and hidey hole hay – just decided to pull up the edges of the rug. In several spots. Leading to mad chasing, cries of NO and boxing her slave. Sigh.
They learn fast…
Oh trust me, I know about destructive rabbits! Haha. We have all the cords covered in our house. My boyfriend would KILL me if the rabbit chewed through the cords of his brand new computer, so the computer is completely blocked off. The Playstation is hardly ever out, but we plan on getting more cord protectors for that too. It was just kind of funny because my boyfriend was in the process of putting it away and the dog decided she wanted to lie RIGHT THERE and then along came Nixon to see what was going on, so I thought I’d take a picture
And yes Beka, they get a long really well! My dog is still really young, so she gets a little excited at times, but she would never hurt him. But when he runs across the room binkying, she can’t help but join in the fun! Nixon doesn’t seem to mind her one bit.
He’s probably the most easy going bunny I’ve come across. I’m so glad he’s found such a good home, it’s hard to rehome older buns! He had actually never been picked up his whole life, and when he came to us he needed his nails done bad. We let him settle for one day but they were long so I went for it. I was pretty scritched up-he tried hard to hold still though! But he’s come such a long way in his handling already!
Yea Nixon!
So glad he is settling in!
What a cutie!
Out of curiosity, how did you decide on the name Nixon?
You know, his ears are spread out in the same way that Richard Milhous had it when he did his famous V-salute. I can just see it now…
“Nixon, did you chew on this cord?!?”
“I am not a crook….”
K&K, I’ve had to clip his nails since he’s been with us- and it’s not easy! But I figured out if I get him in the kitchen (he HATES the linoleum) on a towel (that way he doesn’t have far to run!) and boyfriend pets him continually, I can sneak in there and clip-clip. It took two days, but we got them done! That way I didn’t have to pick him up, since he hates that so much. He’s getting more comfortable on my lap though, before he would jump off in a panic as soon as his feet touched me, but now he’ll sit for a second and hop off much more calmly. Still won’t stay for long though ![]()
And the name? I don’t really know where it came from. I think there’s a brand called Nixon (I think my boyfriend was looking at a watch made by them at one point?). Maybe it’s a subconscious thing. I do have a cat named Puma at my mom’s (which is a shoe brand for those who don’t know) but I just picked that name because I thought it was cute, and a puma is a wild cat- so I thought it was fitting.
Congrats on your new family member. I don’t knowif I could go through baby bun stage agian. I am so used to my more mature buns. Ruby wasn’t an over active hyper baby girl fortunately.
Nixon is real cute. Sprinkling of gray on his head wow. Very beautiful and unusual to find too. Glad he is making himself at home. You will be trained in no time. hehe.![]()

Cute bunny! And isn’t it funny the relationships they form? Bruno’s gotten Thomas (a cat) so excited that he’s binkied a time or two. Then he remembers that I’m watching him and he stops with an impassive face, all “You saw nothing, human!”
Thanks for posting pics. I thought he was adorable the first time K&K posted his pic from the rescue. His colour is so unique. Also, you dog is very cute, I love little dogs!
What a pretty rabbit! Love the coloring! ![]()
Aww, it’s so great to see all of K&K’s hard work end in such a happy ending for you and Nixon! Congratulations to you all! ![]()
