I noticed cottons bottom lip had been bit too.   I couldn’t tell b4.   So last nite I held him whle hubby put neosporin on him.  Then out came that little tongue of his to lick it all off.

I feel like just leaving it since he licks the stuff off anyways.  But i don’t want him to get abcessed or infections and stuff.

GRRRR.  He kicks and flips himsself over even when I roll him in a towel.  Foooo cotton you are too much.

HE and Ruby haven’t been together either.  That won’t happen again.

Oh, no I am so sorry to hear that BT!   These things can happen.   I know Rucy got her bottom lip bitten VERY badly by Bailey once. Her lip had to be sewn up.

Is it deep? If so, I recommend taking cotton to the vet. Topical meds won’t work well as you have discovered so they would most likely clean it up and give oral antibiotics if they felt it necessary.

If it’s just a tiny scrape of bite then just be sure to keep an eye on it as, of course, you already know and have mentioned the issues of abscess/infection. This can easily happen with the face and mouth area.

I’m sending out healing vibes for Cotton. Keep us updated.

It was a surface wound.  Healing nicely now.  Good thing.   I check on it daily.   Looking lots better.

Yeah had me worried.   I was holding Ruby and came in the house after with her.  I almost put her down to play with Cotton then Cotton yawned and I remembered his lip so I changed my mind.   Don’t want any more of that going on.

If the wound is in an area that the bunny will immediately lick it off, I would not apply it at all.  Although Neosporin is safe with bunnies it IS a topical antibiotic and the bunny will be ingesting a small amount of antibiotics.  I am not sure if this would work with a lip wound- but apply the Neosporin and then give the bunny their salad/treat/toy/pellets that keeps them entertained to not lick it off right away.

yeah I was kind of wondering if it was worth putting on if he just licks it off.  It is not a deep wound or bled or anything.  So I will keep an eye on it and let it be.  Thanks everyone
