Its a website for people to rehome their pets, and also you will find a lot of backyard breeders trying to make a buck..ugh! I bet, the monkeys are a scam, you use to see it on craigslist all the time where they would come up with a story about you only paying shipping from a African country, and would scam people that way, they did this with dogs, cat…monkeys you name it…Real sick and disgusting! I wish there was a way to stop these people….

Oh yes, it depends where it is-what city were you looking at? Some states/prov don’t have wild or exotic animal laws and people keep some bizarre pes. But if it’s illegal where the person is, you could certainly report it-you can also flag the ad for kijiji as well

Anything with like monkeys, exotic animals, or the majority of Yorkies, English bulldogs, etc are scams…so no bother with them.

I know you can flag craigslist, but can you on kijiji? There is probabley a spot where you can report “abuse”

Yup you can ‘report’ ads and their are several different categories. They are very good at getting them down quickly

lol there are tons of weird pets on Kijiji…tons of boas,geckos,bengal cubs,exotic fish,etc . But  the rabbits, poor things there are normally TONS of them, most usually 10 bucks or under. I have to admit though, this is where i got Leila. I felt so bad for her in this pic..

We got her a little over a month ago..she’s 5yo and was free.

We still have the dreadful cage in the basement. We were thinking of selling it but hey, that means another poor creature would have to live in it so I guess we’re gonna trash it.

OMG, poor little Leila! Seriously, is that a 7-Up bottle?! For crying out loud, what a disgusting little cage. Thank goodness she has found a home with you!

I’ve “had it out” with many people on Kijiji, a lot of breeders on there, but there are some good people. They are just hard to find….

surprisingly she came with a normal water bottle instead of the one in the pic. The brown thing is a branch they managed to shove in for chewing. I don’t even think they fed her hay. She didn’t come with any, and if they were to put some in that particular cage, it would probably just fall through the wires.. They said on the ad that they would let a family “try her out” & there is full return possible if things don’t work out. We’re keeping her no matter what, but even if something didn’t work out I think we would be better off seeking a loving home for ourselves…

I agree with you, I think some people are trying to make a profit off these animals and don’t really care what kind of home they go to..

that’s an awful cage… ugh. it actually makes me feel sick to my stomach just looking at it. i would NOT ONLY throw it away, i’d get wire cutters and snip it into about 100 pieces so there’s no risk of it getting pulled out from the trash. unreal. thank you for rescuing her from those people.

Ugh nasty cage.  Her poor feet.  I can’t imagine having to sleep on wire.  Ouch. Yeah chop it up.

I get upset almost every time I’m on kijiji. Especially the ads about rabbits and idiots looking for studs to breed their animals to or people looking to get rid of a whole bunch of accident kittens, etc. I don’t know why I still go on it, just a habit I guess. There are a lot of weirdos that post there (and people who can’t spell, which drives me NUTS!!!)

I don’t know how she was able to be comfortable on the wire either :S when we put her in the truck and started driving she actually sprawled out, never seen a bunny that comfortable in a vehicle…but I guess if she was in there long enough she got used to the wire.

how awful that cage is. you said “she’s 5yo and was free.” You’re absolutely right about that 2Lops, you freed her from the horrible existance and she IS free now. You’re her angel.

We have got two of our rabbits from Kijiji and 4 pet rats.

The rats were free, They were very skinny when we first got them but heathy. A good diet and they gained weight. They have passed now, Rat’s don’t live very long lifes. I know they had a good year and half with us.

We also got Olly and Lucy from that site as well. Olly was kept in a very small rabbit cage with his sibling with no access to food or water.

Lucy old owner got her from her shool. Lucy was going to be snake food but her old owner save her by giving Lucy a home. After Lucy old owner  was done school she was busy working two jobs so she had no time for Lucy, So  we adopted Lucy.  Lucy was a little over weight but she gets lots of play time here so she has lost weight. and is a very happy bunny.

I’ve also sold some things on that site, its not easy. I have also gotten cages off there for my lizards for great prices, you just have to know your stuff so you don’t get riped off….I usally try and stay off that site.

I buy used cages off Kijiji for our rabbit shelter. Generally people have those large cages (that are about 200 new) for sale for around 50-60; I offer twenty to them, and pick up-generally they accept and some have even said it’s for a shelter so you can have it for free! This also means sometimes I spend the day driving around cramming my little car full of animal cages LOL
I just picked one up, it’s a large cage on wheels-I don’t know how we managed to get it in my car but it went-and I drove pressed up against the drivers side door all the way to the shelter LOL
