        Ok so our bunny is almost 1 soon – spayed female.  She has always done pretty well and been a good eater.  Lately about the last month – we have been having very messy wet stools on and off – stuck to her butt.  I havn’t done anything different but she is not eating as much either.  She is a very picky eater and doesn’t like much and I am holding back greens as often because that seems to make it worse.  I have tried – parsley, carrots, raisons, cucumbers, red cabbage, apples, pellets, pears, and hay.  She only likes cucumbers, parsley (which seems to make it worse) and apples and carrots but even her favorites are sitting in her cage untouched.  She IS eating but not as much.  She eats hay daily but I do have a hard time getting her to eat pellets.  She only likes the junk food pellets.  But I have decided next bag is only going to be the healthy kind and she will have to deal with it.

        It is disapointing because she is making a mess everywhere and still doesn’t like us much.

        PS – do bunnies like to sleep most of the day?  She plays a lot at night.  Should I just feed her the fresh foods at night and leave hay and pellets available during the day?

        I was starting to look for a new home for her because I am 8 months pregnant and really having a hard time cleaning up after her.  She is such a good girl but feeling like we might have our hands full.  She used to be really good litter trained to but since the wetness it gets everywhere.

        I need some advice.

          When she was at the vet to be spayed- did they check a stool sample for intestinal parasites?  Bunnies can get coccidia which can cause loose mushy stool- so it would be a good idea to elinimate the possibility of it being a medical issue.  If she is not eating normally- she really should see a vet to address that and the mushy stool.

          It could possibly be diet related too- some buns have a more sensitive stomach than others.  Raisins, apples, carrots, and pears all have a high sugar content which can cause mushy stool.  Binky Bunny has some good info on determining what her bunny with a sensitive stomach could eat….. https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Diet/tabid/60/Default.aspx

            definitely check out that link katnip gave you. the best diet for buns is lots of plain old timothy hay and green veggies. some very basic ones are romaine or green leaf lettuce. it does sound as if her diet might be the culprit.

              Great idea to check for Coccidia or other things too-as katnip and Beka said;

              It could also be just be her needing a diet tweak. Bascially rabbits should be fed unlimited grass hay, limited plain timothy pellets and vegetables (mostly greens); However some rabbits cannot tolerate pellets and some cannot tolerate greens -or certain kinds of veggies.

              My advice, vet check, throw out the junk food pellets and get some plain timothy based ones; and up her veggies. You can also add some oats (plain) to her food (maybe a teaspoon a day) and that can help to dry her up. Keep us posted-we know how frustrating poopy bum can be!
