        Hi,

I was in Target today and bought what I thought was a grooming glove for Samantha. Well, it was a Massage Glove, thick rubber with two types of rubber nubs on each side and just not right at all for a little smooth bunny.

I’d like to try a grooming glove instead of a brush. Do any of you with short, smooth furred bunnies use one? What would you recommend? She’s only going to shed, but won’t have long hair or tangles. If anything, she might have sensitive skin under there. So I want something that will get the hair well when she starts to shed, but won’t #$@! or pull on her. Thanks.

I have one of those gloves for Little Man. It only works when he’s fully shedding though. Normally I just use a cat brush I got at Walmart for $2.  It looks like a babies hair brush with thin white bristles…. He seems to like it, but I wish I could find a glove tha worked well for him too.

I bought one of those grooming gloves, but honestly, the best thing that i have found is one of those masking tape lint brushes. sophie loves the rolling sensation and it gets all the hair. If you can find them at the dollar store, this is the best grooming technique EVER!

If you’re really looking get out the undercoat from a rabbit molt, I would get the furminator brush. Someone else recommended it to me on binky bunny and I’m happy to say it worked like a charm. My Netherland Dwarf Cheeky was in the midst of a heavy molt and I was finding hair clumps that were linking poops together so I knew he was ingesting a good bit of hair. After I got the furminator I wasn’t sure if my bun would like being brushed, but I figured out a good system. I put him on a high table on top of a towel and slowly brush his body (avoiding the head and undersides). I was able to pull out a good chunk of his undercoat with the furminator (though there was some left). The only thing that you may need to worry about is over brush/irritating sensitive rabbit skin, so I’d try to do long strokes and keep the session about 5-10 minutes and only brush 1x a week (my bun’s fur is very fine/sparse compared to some other more heavily shedding/thick coated buns).

I got my the small furminator brush from amazon, it’s much cheaper than getting it from the pet stores. I read it works really welll for dogs/cats too!

My bunnies dislike the Furminator- so I only use it on them when they are shedding out their coat, and it works awesome so it is worth the disapproval I get from them.

They do allow me to groom them with a comb during TV watching time.  So I use a Hairbuster comb on them- and it works well.  I keep it by the couch and any bunny or cat within reach gets combed.  LOL.

I do love the Furminator though- it works awesome on bunnies, cats and dogs.  I bought the Medium size so it was a compromise between larger size for dogs and smaller for bunnies and cats.

                  Thanks, guys.
I’m going to go ahead and send the check to Hairbuster and try that for now.
