So I mentioned that I might be getting a friend for Nova and I finally did it. This will mostly just be a journal of what I’m doing to bond, but I might have questions as time goes on.
I looked all over in rescues but they didn’t have many small rabbits very close by so I searched Craigslist as well. I really lucked out and got a neutered male dwarf. The lady had found him outside her house and took him in, later getting him neutered. Since Nova is also a found rabbit I figured that I should have another one that was found. He’s a little on the big side(for a dwarf), and his ears are a little helicoptery. His face looks just like my friend’s mini-lops, so I’m guessing that’s what he’s mixed with. He’s an absolute snuggle bug, and his personality is just golden for being such a small rabbit. He just stares at me though, and I don’t know why. He did that as soon as the lady put him in my arms and does it a lot any time I’m around him.
Anyways, since I’ve only had him for one night, I put the rabbits cages next to each other this morning. Nova was very curious about him and came up to the front of her cage to get a good look at him. He mostly just ignored her, but I think he’s a little nervous too about being in a new place. She got bored after a few minutes and begged for her morning treat, then went to bed as usual on her phone book. They have been laying facing each other all day.
I will get a video of the first time they meet, which will probably be in a few days. For now I’m just going to be switching them back and forth in their cages so they know each other’s smells. I’m going to take it slow, more for Hubble’s sake than Nova’s as Nova was only spayed a few months ago and naturally crazy anyways.
