Despite my objections, the family have got a real Christmas tree, which will be put up tomorrow.

Apart from knowing that if Harri goes under it or behind it, I’ll have a difficult time catching her (I’m getting on in years!!!) will the tree do her any harm?

Although I am hoping that she will know instinctively that she mustn’t chew the needles (our trees always drop) totally blocking her from it I can see will be a problem as any small area that she is blocked from – such as the bit of floor where my computer transformers are – is the very spot she wants to go

I am beginning to think she maybe bored, and that the toys she has are not what she wants – she likes to throw things around the place, knock over the waste bins and pull everything out ….. but we still love her

Well be very diligent, especially with those electrical cords and not letting her drink the water the tree is in. Happy and safe holidays for you both!

The Christmas tree is now up and decorated. Harri is beside herself – a whole real tree just for her in the house! She is under it and stretching up to sniff at it. It also looks as if she’s nibbling on the odd dropped pine needle … Luckily, she has not, in the 3 months or so I’ve had her, shown any signs of being interested in electrical chords, so I think the tree lights are safe.

Well Bat-E, I hate to tell you this but there is a first time for everything (knock on wood that isn’t true for your Harri). My first bun Trixie wasn’t interested in cords for the first 6 months I had her, until one day she totally destroyed the cord for my electric blanket. Imagine my surprise that my sweet little bunny had turned rogue on me.

Yes, and they can get shocked terribly from chewing cords. Maybe if you don’t want to go to trouble to protect all the cords then only allow her to be around the tree if your there to watch?

I made a NIC cube fence around our tree.  Drue was way too interested in it!  I hung our stockings from the gate so that it looks festive LOL
