        Hey all,

Just a couple more things, sorry to keep bothering you all, but we are still new to all of this, and want to make sure that we are doing all we can to keep Jimmy safe and healthy.

1- How big on average should baby poop be? He poops a lot, but yesterday they were almost a centimetre in diameter…. Is bigger poop a problem?

2- He seems to like chewing on the dirt in one of our potplants (a palm of some kind). He doesn’t eat the leaves, but roots around in the dirt. It doesn’t look like he is eating much, if any, but is mud ok for them to play with?

3- And just to let you know, he let me give him his first nose rub yesterday

        Thanks

Poops really do vary by rabbit. There isn’t really an average. I would just watch them and see if they change much from what you are seeing.

I would not let him chew on dirt though.

aww noserubs! dirt is a no-no. you don’t really know what was in it when you bought it, and even outside there could have been a chemical or something in it. I wouldn’t let your bun ingest a lot of it.

I noticed a difference in size of my rabbits poops from time to time. As long as its solid.. I think your okay!

Thanks for the replies, I will raise the plant on a few boxes when I get home tonight.

              Thanks again.

As far as baby poops, I don’t actually know. I do remember seeing and cleaning up a bunch of baby bunny poop when I volunteered at a rabbit rescue. They were smaller – like half the size of regular adult bunnies, but as they grew and consumed more grass hay, the size became more rounded, full, and more medium brown instead of dark.

Jack’s poops will become larger and lighter when he eats Oat, and they will become more medium to dark brown and less full when he eats just plainTimothy. So it can really just depend too on how much hay they consume. A larger consumption of hay, usually leads to larger poos.

If the large poos (fecals) are squishy and smelly, and sort of misshapen, and they are NOT the cecals, then that can be a sign that something healthwise is going on like a common parasitic illness like coccidia (easily treatable via a vet.)

Hey all, just to let you know that the soil is now blocked off. He still tries to get in there but is having no luck

With regards to poop, it is all staying the same so I guess I was worrying over nothing….. But that is better than worrying over something…..

Thanks again for all your help. I am sure I will be asking more soon.

                  Matt
